How American Oligarchs Are Pushing America to the Brink of Fascism
It used to be more difficult for the ultra wealthy to buy American democracy.

As the American Heritage Dictionary noted, fascism is: "A system of government that exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with belligerent nationalism."

The oligarchs are plotting their final takeover by using their economic dominance to capture governmental power - specifically, the governmental power which sets the rules for the very marketplace that provides the oligarchs with such massive wealth.

Once the American corporate barons own the institutions that are meant to regulate them, it’s game-over for both rational capitalism (including competition) and for democracy.

Last week, at David and Charles Koch’s annual winter meeting near Palm Springs, California, it was announced that the Koch Brothers’ political organization would spend close to $900 million on the 2016 election. If this goal is met, the group of corporate leaders will spend far more than the Republican Party and its congressional campaign committees spent, combined, in the 2012 campaign.

Once upon a time, it would have been illegal for the Koch Brothers and their fellow oligarchs to buy an election. Of course, that time was before the Citizens United Supreme Court decision.

We now stand at the same crossroad Roosevelt and Wallace confronted during the Great Depression and World War II. Fascism is rising in America. Oligarchs like the Koch Brothers are poised to capture more political power. The point of their spear is "corporate personhood" and "corporate free speech rights."

The Roberts' Court's decisions and the election plans of the Koch Brothers and their fellow oligarchs now eerily parallels the day in 1936 when Roosevelt said: "In vain they seek to hide behind the flag and the Constitution. In their blindness they forget what the flag and the Constitution stand for."

COCK BROTHERS, COCK BROTHERS, RUN, RUN , RUN!!!!!!

You are wrong, fascism is not exclusive of left leaning idiology as it incorporates a ton of social programs.

Fascism is both extremes of the left and the right. Social programs with strong pro-government authoritarian type dictatorship.

I'm wrong? How so? I didn't write the article, I posted it. SO, you're saying that the one that wrote the article is wrong? It's fine if you have a different definition of Fascism, and/or a different opinion as to where we're at, and where we're headed. But, in my opinion, yes, we do have a government owned by the wealthy, the powerful, and the influential. Do you disagree with that? If so, why? Please explain. Thanks.

Koch brothers actually consider themselves to be Libertarians -- polar opposites of the Fascists.

And Pedophiles consider themselves mentors to the children.

The Koch Brothers are Plutocrats, fascism can exist within the structure of a plutocracy if it has a symbiotic relationship with the Military Industrial Complex. I'm mindful of the fact that words like fascism, plutocracy, democracy, etc. manifest differently at different times and places, without a description of the form they take, they are too general to provide a clear picture.

For example, democracy can be direct or representative and representative democracy can take many different forms too. Socialism is used pejoratively by many, but its form in the UK and China are much different.

Today we live in a representative democracy, if we simply look at the structure as presented in the COTUS. The Roberts Court has upset the balance of one man one vote by overruling efforts of the Congress to keep as much special interest money out of elections; they own the Congress and members of Congress include numerous millionaires - how can such a system not be called a Plutocracy?

It's the wealth, power, and influence that dictate laws and legislation. Our politicians are put in place by the wealthy, the powerful, and the influential. We have a Lobbyist controlled U.S. Congress. Our politicians owe many favors for their position in government. And, those favors are repaid while politicians are in office. The wealthy, the powerful, and the influential, place the names on the ballots, and we're asked to choose between those candidates. We're ruled by special interests. So, what kind of government do we actually have? We certainly don't have a government by the people, and for the people. Once elected to office, politicians exert their will and not the will of the people. We do not have a representative government seated in Washington. If the above were not true, we wouldn't be in the sad shameful shape that we're presently in.

OK, then the article is wrong.

Fascism does not mean "extreme right."

A government controlled by the wealthy is not the only tenet of fascism, it's only one of them.

I realize that fascism has more recently been used to cast right wing politics in as bad of a light as possible, but that information is mostly steeped in ignorance.

Um ... suuuuuuure.

No idea what the heck you're going on about.

Fascism is in truth an apolitical criminal conspiracy masquerading behind what they pick and choose from left and right.

The rich are totally responsible for the $18 trillion national debt. There are NO poor politicians.

Politics is a total con game.

So here's the thing.

I agree that the Right has been moving more and more toward fascism since 9/11. No doubt about it.

But...the Left has made it easier. Since FDR, the Left has been consolidating power at the federal level. And when you put all the power in one spot, you make it easier to capture.

It is easier to capture one Congress and a President than it is to capture 50 legislatures and 50 Governors.

You reap what you sow. The oligarchs of America thank you dumbass liberals for making a takeover so much easier.

There's a reason Wall Street donates as much to Democrats as it does to Republicans.

It's a game of self-service, greed, and power. It's egos, a feeling of self-worth, and never being satisfied. It's whatever it takes to get to the top, and by whatever means.
