It took you this long to figure that out? Maybe your next thread will tell us how great Top Gun is, or how you saw a horseless carriage the other day. ;)

Are you talking about cars? I'm skeptical. I don't think they'll catch on.

Eh, I tried to pick a movie from the same decade. Maybe I should have mentioned that I didn't think those James Bond movies would catch on, or how good of an actor that new guy, James Stewart, was.

When I saw this in the theatre me and my friends were the only ones laughing out loud...I think we offended many :p:

a good choice would have been the opening scene of natural born killers...."am i sexy now?"

I'm curious, why would the title make you not want to see it?

And, definitely watch it if you haven't, I would say it's the second-best movie of the 90s, after Goodfellas.

The title really never really turned me away as in disgusting, it just didn’t appeal to me, it didn’t draw me in to even look at the story line, and I don’t remember hearing anything about it that would have caused interest. I watch it soon.

Oh, I see.

If you think of 'pulp' in the title as referring to the serialized novels about gangsters and their girls that came out in the 30's, it makes more sense, especially once you've seen the movie.

But definitely watch it. I'm not going to tell you anything about it because it's full of surprises pretty much from the first scene on.

I'll try to watch it this weekend.

one of the best movies ever! one of the most quotable as well. some favorites:

-------------
Vincent: Oh man, I shot Marvin in the face.

----------------

Jules: Well I'm a mushroom-cloud-layin' motherfucker, motherfucker! Every time my fingers touch brain I'm SUPERFLY T.N.T, I'm the GUNS OF THE NAVARONE. In fact, what the fuck am I doin' in the back? You're the motherfucker should be on brain detail. We're fuckin' switchin' right now. I'm washin' the windows and you're pickin' up this ******'s skull.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jules: What does Marcellus Wallace look like?

Brett: What?

Jules: What country you from?

Brett: What?

Jules: What ain't no country I ever heard of! They speak English in What?

Brett: What?

Jules: ENGLISH, MOTHERFUCKER! DO-YOU-SPEAK-IT?

Brett: Yes!

Jules: Then you know what I'm saying!

Brett: Yes!

Jules: Describe what Marcellus Wallace looks like!

Brett: What, I-?

Jules: [pointing his gun] Say what again. SAY WHAT AGAIN. I dare you, I double dare you, motherfucker. Say what one more goddamn time.

Brett: He's b-b-black...

Jules: Go on.

Brett: He's bald...

Jules: Does he look like a bitch?

Brett: What?

Jules: DOES HE LOOK LIKE A BITCH?

Brett: No!

Jules: Then why you try to fuck him like a bitch, Brett?

Brett: I didn't.

Jules: Yes you did. Yes you did, Brett. You tried to fuck him. And Marcellus Wallace don't like to be fucked by anybody, except Mrs. Wallace.

This is ridiculous, but this is one of my favorite bits of dialogue in the movie....

Jules: Why you so interested in big man's wife?

Vincent: Well, Marcellus is going out of town this weekend and he wants me to take care of her.

Jules: (points to his head like a gun) Take care of her?

That cracks me up every time for some reason.

The music is great, too. A lot of the classic surf guitar instrumentals from the early sixties.

One of my favorite lines:

Honey Bunny and Ringo are realizing they've made an extremely unwise choice in holdup victims; they're caught in a deadly standoff with Jules. Into this mess blunders Vincent; in the ensuing confusion, Jules tells Vincent to STFU.

Honey Bunny decides to add her two cents, and - in a scared-little-girl voice - chirps, "Shut up!".

I don't know why, but that line just slays me!

No real story? I'd say there were at least three stories with more substance than at least 90% of today's movies.

And, yeah, it's vulgar and somewhat bloody (although I'm consistenly amazed by how little blood there really is compared to how critics like to make it seem), but that's kind of Tarantino's forte.

Sorry to hear you didn't like it as much as everyone else here.
