Preacher or President?

SSI is not a ponzi scam. It works sorta like a retirement account. The only problem is the tax cap. Remove that..and you have no problem. Not removing it..will create a problem in 2 decades or so. It's very sustainable. To bad the Secessionist fails to recognize that.

It doesn't work "like a retirement account". A retirement account, I put money in, and it's there when I retire. Ponzi Security, I put money in, and it is immediately paid to old people who usually have used up everything they paid in by 72, it goes to rich old "snowbirds" who have enough money to have two homes and commute between locations. It goes to crackheads who are claiming to be "disabled". The rest is converted into government bonds to cover up all the other ways government finds to waste money.

Oh, yeah, it's sustainable, if you tax people at 30% instead of the current 12% people pay now.

And President Obama wound up breaking relations with Wright..when that all came out. Didn't have much of an effect on the election, anyways. Most people recognized that those were not the views of candidate Obama.

Well, more like, the media was too busy reporting on his Ipad and how the First Wookie keeps her legs so tone. Seriously, Joe the Plumber got more of a vetting than these people did.

People realized by 2010 what a bill of goods they'd been sold with this guy.

The Secessionist has not disavowed anything Hagee or Benefiel has said.

Because no one cares about what Hagee says. Hagee has been praised for his support of Israel.

If you believe in God (and I don't, really), they you have to believe he had some reason to allow Hitler to do what he did. Hagee's position is a pretty clear interpretation of the bible. In book after book, the people sin, neglect God, and God sends some nasty person to deal with them.

If you guys really want to drag out Hagee (which you did back in 2008 with McCain), then we can drag out Wright and beat him up some more. Wright will happily rise to the bait, I'm sure.

It's lovely that you characterize people that put in 30-40 years of labor as "snowbirds" and "crackheads". I hope the Secessionist uses that sort of imagery.

And Hagee and Benefiel will be dragged out because of Wright. It was conservatives that made a big deal of guilt by association. The Hitler thing is not going to be an easy sell to the General Electorate.

Yeppers..the Secessionist should have an easy time of it. Let's see:

-He wants to get rid of SSI and Medicare.
-He wants to cut taxes on the wealthy.
-If Texas is a template, then his Jobs program with include using federal money to lard up the energy and defense sectors. The rest should be picked up with minimum wage jobs.
-He's going to eviserate education funding and introduce religion doctrine to public schools.
-He will introduce more religion into government.

Yeah..winning combination there..by gumption!

He wants to turn SSI and Medicare and Medicaid over to the states.
It gives the states the rights to manage the programs not the Federal Government.
He did not say he wanted to get rid of them.

PERRY: I don’t think our founding fathers when they were putting the term “general welfare” in there were thinking about a federally operated program of pensions nor a federally operated program of health care. What they clearly said was that those were issues that the states need to address. Not the federal government. I stand very clear on that. From my perspective, the states could substantially better operate those programs if that’s what those states decided to do.

Liberals don't like the Idea that that the States should get their Constitutional rights back.

It's lovely that you characterize people that put in 30-40 years of labor as "snowbirds" and "crackheads". I hope the Secessionist uses that sort of imagery.

You don't think that there are able bodied people out there who could work and claim to be disabled and collect a check aren't part of the problem? (Hint, the part of Social Security that pays out for "disability" is broke RIGHT NOW!) You don't think letting substance abuser to claim to be disabled is a big part of that problem?

And, yeah, rich people should not be collecting social security. They don't need it and we can't afford it. But we have to maintain the illusion that social security is a "retirement program" and not welfare.

And Hagee and Benefiel will be dragged out because of Wright. It was conservatives that made a big deal of guilt by association. The Hitler thing is not going to be an easy sell to the General Electorate.

You know, the thing is, you guys keep trying to portray what Hagee said as something it wasn't. There are a lot of religious Zionists who share that view.

On the other hand, what Wright said was pretty unambiguous. He hate America and white people, and the Community Organizer brought his two young daughters to listen to that sewage every week. ("Daddy, what's a cracker?")

Yeah..winning combination there..by gumption!

Again, Perry has created 40% of the new jobs in the last 3 years. Obama has lost net jobs on his watch.

You spend all day spewing bad things about Perry because you can't really honestly say anything good about Obama. (Not that honesty has ever stopped you before.)

First off, drug use is way down in this country. Secondly, the focus should be on treatment, not demonization.

In any case..President Obama broke his relationship with Wright in a very public way. Wright, by the way, is a vet who has served under Presidents before. And what he was mad about is being treated like a second or third class citizen in a country where he pays his taxes, has contributed his time and effort and has obeyed the law. That is the black experience in this country. They've been treated worse then dirt. Up until very recently there was apartheid in the South. Some of his anger is completely justified. Hagee on the other hand..is a loon. He's an insult to America. Saying that Hitler was part of some grand scheme to do god's bidding is not only an insult...but it goes against the very fiber of almost all Americans. Our country fought and defeated the evil that was Adolf Hitler. And it was one of our finest moments.

The Secessionist's job creation, for the second time, is a DIRECT result of government spending. The Secessionist even used Stimulus money to plug holes in his budget after deriding the Stimulus. That makes him a pretty big hypocrite.

President Obama has succeeded in undoing a good deal of the damage done by the Conservative Hero..and destroyer of the American Economy (Which was probably the Conservative plan all along..to illustrate that government "doesn't work), George W. Bush. But much of it has been fixing the foundation..and it's hard to notice. On the jobs front, UE went down from a high of 11% to 9.1%. It's bad..but it's been done in the face of one of the most obstructionist opposing parties since the civil war. That and he's restored relations with allies, cut Nuclear Stockpiles, killed Osama Bin Laden and snuffed a multitude of terrorists and pirates along the way. Not to mention he's deported more illegal aliens then Conservative Hero George W. Bush or Bill Clinton. If he was on your "football team" you'd be spiking the ball. But he's not. So you call him a failure.

George Orwell would be proud. :clap2:

Someone above asked for an example of the crazy, obviously they did not read the piece or check out the other links to crazy. One has to ask how is extremist right wing Christianity any different from any other extremist ideology?

"An emerging Christian movement that seeks to take dominion over politics, business and culture in preparation for the end times and the return of Jesus, is becoming more of a presence in American politics. The leaders are considered apostles and prophets, gifted by God for this role."
[...]
"Thomas Muthee, the Kenyan pastor who anointed Sarah Palin at the Wasilla Assembly of God Church in 2005, while praying for Jesus to protect her from the spirit of witchcraft, is also part of this movement."
[...]
"The organizers of Perry's rally were from ministries founded by two apostles/prophets of the movement — The Call, and the International House of Prayer founded by Mike Bickle. Bickle, who led part of Perry's event, has claimed that Oprah Winfrey is a precursor of the Antichrist, and Engle has claimed that gay people are controlled by "demonic spirits." Both have served on the Council of Prophetic Elders initiated by Wagner."

The New Apostolic Reformation: The Evangelicals Engaged In Spiritual Warfare : NPR

"A new poll from Harris interactive finds that 40 percent of American adults think that Obama is a socialist; 25 percent believe that Obama was not born in the United States and is therefore not eligible to be president; 20 percent say Obama is doing many of the things that Hitler did; 14 percent say Obama "may be the Antichrist.""

When Right-Wing Extremism Moves Mainstream : NPR

"One of the interesting things about the meeting is how nondenominational it was," says Mark Potok. "There were Holocaust deniers there. There were anti-Semites. There were also people who have none of those feelings, who are all about the idea that the federal income tax is unconstitutional — people from the old[er] militia movements and so on."

First off, drug use is way down in this country. Secondly, the focus should be on treatment, not demonization.

No, it's a crime, and that's how we should treat it.

Wright is a typical race pimp who makes his money off of stirring up resentment.

But let's look at Obama's relationship with Wright. He didn't "break his relationship" when Wright spewed his hate in church when his CHILDREN were in the room, which is what most normal, decent people would do. No, no, he needed Wright to help him "Organize" the "Community".

Then someone dug up videotape, and what was Obama's first instinct? Denounce Wright on the spot? Nope. His first instinct was to take the woman who had raised him because his parents couldn't be bothered, and throw the poor woman under the bus by claiming she was a racist because she wanted her no-account husband to drive her to work after being threatened by a black stew bum.

Only after Wright couldn't shut his mouth did he finally "Break his relationship".

Oh, please, we only got involved in WWII because the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Please don't rewrite history..

To the bigger point, why didn't God stop Hitler? (Or for that matter, 9/11, Andrea Yates drowning her kids, Katrina, the Japan Earthquake, etc.) Why does a good God allow terrible things to happen to good people.

Well, you have to draw one of two conclusions.

You can conclude that there is no God, and shit just happens. (Pretty much what I did after my mom died in 1983).

Or you can conclude God has a bigger plan, and a reason for doing what he does.

President Obama has succeeded in undoing a good deal of the damage done by the Conservative Hero..and destroyer of the American Economy George W. Bush. But much of it has been fixing the foundation..and it's hard to notice. On the jobs front, UE went down from a high of 11% to 9.1%. It's bad..but it's been done in the face of one of the most obstructionist opposing parties since the civil war.

Obama controlled both houses of Congress his first two years with a filibuster proof majority, and he couldn't get shit done. He put his priorities on a health reform package no one wanted instead of jobs programs, and a trillion dollar stimulus to pay off his union buddies. Unemployment has waivered between 10.1% (the height, not 11% like you said) and 9% his whole term. The highest it got under Bush was 7.3%, and that's when he was on his way out and everyone knew a socialist shit storm was coming.

So you call him a failure.:

Because none of that stuff matters to me. What matters to me is that I'm stuck in a job where I'm only making 85% of what I made under bad old George W. Bush, because there aren't better oppurtunities out there, and I have to work a second job to make ends meet.

Restoring relations with worthless "allies" who are fucking us at every oppurtunity doesn't help that.

Killing Bin Laden years after he ceased to be relevent doesn't have any effect on that either.

The man IS a failure in every measurable way. Higher unemployment, higher trade deficits, higher debt, higher gasoline costs.

Stop drinking the koolaid...

Wright is a typical race pimp who makes his money off of stirring up resentment.

From 1959 to 1961, Wright attended Virginia Union University,[2] in Richmond and is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Zeta chapter. In 1961 Wright left college and joined the United States Marine Corps and became part of the 2nd Marine Division attaining the rank of private first class. In 1963, after two years of service, Wright joined the United States Navy and entered the Corpsman School at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center.[12][13] Wright was then trained as a cardiopulmonary technician at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Wright was assigned as part of the medical team charged with care of President Lyndon B. Johnson (see photo of Wright caring for Johnson after his 1966 surgery). Before leaving the position in 1967, the White House Physician, Vice Admiral Burkley, personally wrote Wright a letter of thanks on behalf of the United States President.[14][15][16]

In 1967 Wright enrolled at Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1968 and a master’s degree in English in 1969. He also earned a master's degree from the University of Chicago Divinity School.[12] Wright holds a Doctor of Ministry degree (1990) from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, where he studied under Samuel DeWitt Proctor, a mentor to Martin Luther King, Jr.[17]

His wife is Ramah Reed Wright, and he has four daughters, Janet Marie Moore, Jeri Lynne Wright, Nikol D. Reed and Jamila Nandi Wright, and one son, Nathan D. Reed.[12]

FYI, social security retirement fund is a SEPARATE trust fund from the social security disability trust fund. They ARE NOT one and the same.

The Secessionist has not disavowed anything Hagee or Benefiel has said.

Quite the opposite...he invited them to speak instead. He GAVE them a forum to espouse their horrific views.

Hagee is a huckster who's never done anything for anybody but himself.

John Hagee was born in Baytown, Texas, to the former Vada Mildred Swiek and the Reverend William Bythel Hagee.[7] He graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering in 1964.[8] He was on a football scholarship and appeared on the Academic Dean's List.[9] Hagee received a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Texas in Denton in 1966 and completed his theological training at Southwestern Assemblies of God University with a Diploma in Theology in Waxahachie, south of Dallas. Hagee also has a Master's and a doctorate in history[citation needed] from the University of North Texas.[8] Hagee descends from a long line of Anabaptist Mennonite pastors[citation needed], a somewhat curious fact in light of Mennonite beliefs (pacifism, aversion to war, forgiveness of enemies).[10] In 1989, he received an Honorary Doctorate from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.[11] In 2005, he received another Honorary Doctorate from Netanya Academic College in Israel.[12] Hagee served on the Oral Roberts University Board of Regents from 1989 to January 2008.[8]

On August 26, 1960, Hagee married his first wife Martha; they had two children, Christopher and Tish.[8] In October 1966, Hagee founded Trinity Church in San Antonio, Texas.[13] Hagee and Martha divorced in 1975.

Hagee married his second wife, the former Diana Castro, a member of Trinity Church, on April 12, 1976. According to both biographies at John Hagee Ministries, Hagee and his second wife Diana have three children, Christina, Matthew, and Sandy, and eight grandchildren.[1][14] Matthew Hagee, John's son, is the executive pastor of Cornerstone Church.[15]

Hagee founded a new church, The Church at Castle Hills, on May 11, 1975, Mother's Day. The church started with 25 members, but within two years, had to build a new sanctuary seating 1,600 people. The church continued to grow; on October 4, 1987, Hagee dedicated a 5,000-seat sanctuary and named it Cornerstone Church. Dr. W. A. Criswell, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, anointed Hagee and Diana before the congregation.[13]

Today, Trinity Church is located 7.3 mi (11.7 km) from Hagee's Cornerstone Church on the same stretch of highway in San Antonio.

Hagee has written a number of best-selling books and is a Southern Gospel recording artist.[16] He, Matthew, Christina, and Sandy often travel together as the "Hagee Family Singers."

On his telecast of December 14, 2008, Hagee disclosed to the audience that he had recently undergone successful heart bypass surgery.

Enough said.
