Poverty. What is it Between America's Capitalist Society and Other Capitalist Societies.

You seem to be very confused when it comes to the clean debate section. It does not mean that you are the designated judge of all posts. It does not mean that only statements agreeing with you are allowed. It does not give you control over what everybody gets to say.

You got that, kid?[/quote]

The rules apply. And in addition to that, I'm adding a rule that forbids racism or discrimination against other peoples based on their country of origin or whatever else you can dream up. If you persist with that then I'll be ignoring you. If that's what you want then we're good with it!

There have been many studies about generational poverty, and I would suggest you read some. Dysfunctional attitudes are passed from generation to generation until they become a self filling prophesy.

True in some instances, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or country of origin. None of which apply!

Off-topic and so we're finished with it!

The ownership of slaves in the Southern economy did not help spread the wealth it actually made it decline for the majority of people living in the south.
Anytime you have a uneven distribution of wealth a civilization will die out from a lack of economic activity. Right now, the US govt. has to infuse money into the system to keep it from collapsing. Is this capitalism or state sponsored capitalism?
The South was agrarian as compared to the North.

It's a question that was asked in an old thread but it wasn't framed correctly. The old thread asked the question of comparing America's capitalism with communism or socialism, and that is wrong right from the beginning!

Clearly the question is on why America's greedy style of capitalism needs to be compared to 'socially responsible' capitalism in the world's leading democracies.

And so, in a nutshell: Americans permit their government to steal the wealth away from the working people and allow huge income inequality to exist. No country, even America with it's great wealth, can allow that situation to continue to exist in this 21st. century. There must be some attempt to spread the wealth around for the betterment of the people and the country.

America's current situation of strife and near civil war is being caused by it's system of greedy capitalism.

why dont you tell me??

That's a great place to start because I've never lost track of that fact
theres only been one proven way to get more people out of poverty and thats free market capitalism not government run capitalism,,

and all social programs are designed to keep people in poverty not get them out,,

How was that free market capitalism in keeping people out of poverty before social programs took over? IE Social Security.

WTF is that supposed to mean. You stated the "the implementation of socialist policies is whats brought us down". I asked when that happened and you backtracked.

Why is it hard to answer?

You backtracked because your assertion is false and now you're engaged in diversion. You clearly stated that our nation was brought down, but our nation after WWII clearly gained power and status. So, if were brought down, when were we higher than now?

There is no share of the wealth. You work for it and it belongs to you.
What about inheritance?
You work for wealth. It belongs to you. If you want to leave it to your kids, you leave it to your kids. If you want to leave it to the ASPCA, there will be a lot of rich dogs.
Yeah, your wealth.

Adam Smith didn't like inheritance because each man had to create his own wealth.
Don't care what adam smith likes.

It depends upon how one defines socialist, no?

IMO, this shouldn't be looked at as an either/or but in terms of degree. How MUCH socialism do we want. Social security where productive people and their employers pay into a system is at a level of socialism far removed from, say, guaranteed basic income where utterly unproductive people are given a free ride.

The only way to reduce poverty isn't to hand people a fish. It is to teach them to fish, and if a person not want to learn, then it really isn't society's fault when they fail.
