There were rich black film stars and musicians the 50s who had to go into segregated restaurants and other segregated places of business. Your income has nothing to do with you being abused. Also I'm tired of people throwing around affirmative action. Its another instance of cowardice. Affirmative action was developed by a white man in his presidential term. Being verbally abusive to black people regarding something that they didn't even create. Not saying that its something that you're doing. I'm just venting. Also according to affirmative action, in theory, technically you could have an entire organization of white males. You just have to keep all applications from women and minorities on file with their credentials listed. Something that will hold up in court. Affirmative action never says hire this one or hire that one, it says cover your ass. Due to the affirmative action implementation, corporations create diversity initiatives to be SAFE from the policy. Go after those corporations if you don't agree with how they do what they do instead of verbally abusing black people who didn't create any of it. Black people didn't have the power to create any of these policies. Why throw it in their face? Maybe too cowardly to bring it up among powerful white people who created and enforce these policies who could completely ruin you? Idk. Just a thought.

Since when has racism just been about the wallet ?

White privilege can be three things

1) Money - That is greater opportunity in the labor market, greater net worth
2) Social - That is the people assuming whites are competent, creditworthy, law-abiding, intelligent (None of these things black people can assume others will assume about us)
3) Psychological - That is not having to worry about bad stereotypes, rarely having to feel out of place, not having to worry about racial profiling...etc

So if you're saying that white privilege doesn't exist then you must also argue that racism does not exist because you can't have a down without an up. If black people are the targets of discrimination, in housing, employment, the justice system then whites are being elevated above those same black people.

You saying that poor white people disprove white privilege is as stupid as saying that Stevie Wonder being rich disproves the fact that having your eye sight comes with no advantage.

Poor whites are not up against rich black people. Poor whites are competing for jobs, educations and housing against poor black folks. Rich competes against rich. So the proper test of white privilege would be to compare poor whites in any region with blacks in the same region and to then ask, do whites have an advantage ?

Plus whites have always felt that they were being discriminated against every time there was evidence of black progress, You're just dealing with a deeply-ingrained instinct to feel threatened by any small bit of upward movement by black people. As long as superiority is part of the definition of whiteness, then any step toward equality will be seen a threat to the very essence of whiteness.

He's abrasive as fuck but he's got a point when he says Capitalism has contributed greatly to the degradation of American culture and values. Personally, I wouldnt want to do away with it completely but I would not be averse to some regulations on big multinational corporations and punishment for those that hire illegal aliens
