And The Country Posing The Greatest Threat to Peace as 2013 Ends is …

The past year witnessed bloodshed in Syria and Iraq, turmoil in Egypt, anarchy in Central Africa, threats by a nuclear-armed North Korea and Chinese military posturing, but as 2013 ends a global poll finds that the country seen as representing the greatest threat to peace today is ... the United States.

Not only did the U.S. top the list with an aggregate of 24 percent, but the runner-up threat country, Pakistan, was way behind at eight percent. China was third at six percent, followed by North Korea, Iran and Israel at five percent each.

The survey of opinions across 65 countries by pollster Win/Gallup International recorded some of the strongest anti-American sentiment, predictably, in countries widely regarded as rivals, led by Russia (where 54 percent of respondents said the U.S. was the greatest threat to peace) and China (49 percent).

But the view that the U.S. poses the greatest threat to peace was also strongly held in some purported U.S. allies – such as NATO partners Greece and Turkey (45 percent each), and Pakistan (44 percent), which is also a top recipient of U.S. aid.

Two other countries where strongly negative opinion of the U.S. was found were Bosnia, a candidate for European Union membership (49 percent), and, closer to home, Argentina (46 percent).

Elsewhere in Latin America the U.S. topped the list of threats to peace for a significant number of respondents in Mexico (37 percent), Brazil (26 percent) and Peru (24 percent)...

close our bases in foreign countries, stop all foreign aid, play hardball on trade, secure our borders, support our allies--as long as they support us, stop trying to police the world and be the moality judge, declare that this is an english speaking country, reinstate the pledge in all public schools, maintain a strong military (at home), get out of the mid east, use our own oil and gas and coal, build the pipeline, balance our budget.

Elect a president who loves THIS country and respects our culture, heritage, and traditions.

I'm good with just about everything you stated. Thanks.

America loves peace. America will even lie to the entire world in order to start a war in order to achieve peace.

That goes for Democrat voters too. In the end, they play on the same team. Most of em are Big Government Interventionist Communists/Progressives.

Whoever is the most powerful country in the world will always be a contender for the "greatest threat to peace" in world opinion. I hope we top this list for years to come. Of course, what does this say bout Obama's Nobel Peace Prize?

The lesson learned post-9/11 should have been, don't give up your Freedom & Liberty for the sake of 'Security.' The Terrorists have won to a certain extent. Post-9/11 has been a sad nightmare for American Citizens. How much of their rights have they allowed their Government to seize since 9/11? The Terrorists didn't give us the Patriot Act and NDAA. Our Government gave us those awful decrees.

Indeed. I've said this a thousand times this year - "This is NOT the country I grew up in".

OP- True, under chickenhawk ugly American Pubs....

Only we spend so gd much on ''defense'', basically as much as the rest of the world. But under Dems, we've lowered that poll number- it takes time, and Dems have to protect themselves from Pub charges of being soft on national security...The gigantic Pub propaganda machine has proven againits power tocow the entire US media into bs wars and hysteria...

That is the internal lesson learned, though many have yet to learn it.

And the idiots claiming such haven't a fucking clue about reality. I could give two shits about public opinion of other nations on our national security. Every single nation comes crying to America every damn time they need a security that taken care of. Watch what happens if we ever get our heads out of or as long enough to pull our military back home where it belongs and those nations have to start providing their own damn security.

We are not the largest that to peace - most of the time we are the only thing standing in the way of open warfare even though we make asinine errors like Iraq.

I think the lesson the world learned post-9/11 is, "Don't fuck with the United States".

If America had been minding it's own business all the years since the end of WW2 we wouldn't have had a 9-11. I'm not much of a ron paul fan but he was right about this.

probably true. We (both parties) stupidly decided that it was our role to police the world and force our belief system on them.

I don't agree that we sent a message after 9/11, the terrorists do not fear us, our enemies do not fear us. we elected a pussey and the world knows it.

There's that tough guy talk that gets us in trouble "Don't F.... with us" If America had been minding it's own business all the years since the end of WW2 we wouldn't have had a 9-11.

9/11 was a radical islamic jihad, we did not cause it. Radical imams caused it by preaching hate of everything not islamic.
