Low quality inner-city schools with few textbooks, computers or other resources. The USA is the only first world country outside of Turkey (which is hardly a first world country), to spend more on the education of the children of the rich then they do the children of the poor. Norway actually spends more on the poor kids, to give them a better opportunity to work their way out of poverty.

The Republicans have been trying for decades to eliminate public education and move to entirely charter school system. Minority children completely disappear from the school system in areas where this has been tried because their parents lack the resources to make up the difference between the voucher and the cost.

The New Orleans School Board tried this after Katrina and it was a failure. Enrolment in the new charter schools dropped by 60,000 kids after public schools closed.

Then there’s a lack of opportunity when they do get out of school. Few jobs and lots of competition. Studies have shown that when they mix up the resumes and put black names on white resumes, the black names don’t get called for interviews.

But keep pretending there is no racism in America and that Black people are lazy and stupid. That’s why we call you a Dumb Butthead American.

You will want to conveniently leave pro sports out of the equation because it ruins your narrative, but it stands to reason that if the country was as racist as you claim, the NBA and NFL would be predominately white. Funny that not one white “racist” team owner hasn’t decided not to hire any black people or to go predominately white, you know, putting his racism above his greed to get rich and win. Uh, I live in one of the wealthier suburbs in the Chicago Area. We have million dollar houses out here. I don't live in one of them, because I'm not willing to screw anyone who gets in my way for more money.. but that's another discussion.

I don't feel any "guilt", I just recoginize the foolishness of institutionalized racism. I'm old enough to remember when we had race riots in the 1960's. Fortunately, my dad had a nice union job and was able to keep his family safe for the summer of 68 by moving us out of state until it died down. (He also showed my mother how to use a gun, just in case.)

Here were are, I'm fast approaching my 60th birthday, and things haven't gotten a lot better for black folks and have gotten worse for most white folks. Most white kids can't get into the unions like my dad did. They often have to put themselves deep into debt to pay for college to have even a remote chance to break into the middle class.

You see, the way it SHOULD have worked, was that black folks should have gotten into the middle class, not having more white people kicked out of it because wealth distribution is kind of whack in this country. The rich are getting richer and the rest of us are getting poorer, and the reason why the rednecks in the red states go along with it is because the GOP has gotten very good at playing on their racial, sexual and religious fears.

Usually, Republicans fuck it up so bad we have to put a Democrat in to fix things- Nixon, both Bushes, Trump. But then we go right back to our form of being upset about bullshit.

The ironic thing is that "White People Welfare" that Republicans would secretly love to get rid of, is probably the only thing keeping most white folks from being just as angry as blacks are. BLM started 10 years ago, when Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin. They had asked nicely to change how we do thing, particularly related to police matters. These things didn't happen. Obama tried to do a few things, but he was opposed by the police unions and lot of twits who argued those people totally deserved to get shot. They watched cops get away with murder time after time... Colin took a knee and lost his career.

And then they got fed up and had enough. TRUMP PLAGUE and TRUMP DEPRESSION probably contributed because people were a lot more anxious than they would be normally... but you dumb idiots had been filling the room with gasoline for years... all it took was a match.

What bothers me about racism (other than the moral wrongness of it) is that the GOP has cleverly used it to get dumb white people to vote against their own (and my) economic interests. I would LOVE to have the nice union lifestyle my dad had. But for the last 50 years, since Nixon's southern strategy, the GOP has played this game. Trump is just the guy who traded in the dog whistle for a bullhorn.

Well, that is pretty close to what they make now so not sure why it was brought up. I might add, that if they are making 400-600k per year there is a huge gap between them and the burger flippers. You do realize that if one person started out making 600k/yr and the other burger flipping money that the gap would be very large in short order and rightly so. What you lefties want is the burger flipper to make 75k and be taxed very little and the surgeon to make 600k but be taxed at nearly 60%.(Yes, 57% is the proposed top rate) Again, where is the equity in that and how does that incentivize anyone to put in the time to and effort to become a surgeon? Moreover, if the burger flipper is making 75k, how much would an engineer need to make after taxes to pursue such a career?

Like you, I am a white person, but far more successful. Every immediate family member of mine has been more successful than you. We are all Republicans and have been for decades. Maybe we are just smarter than you? Maybe the reason poor Democrats far outnumber poor Republicans is not because of Republicans but because many are are lazy, excuse laden, irresponsible and ignorant. Nah, that couldn’t be it, right? It is racism, sexism and any other “ism” you can find to blame it on. According to you, Republicanism has been your biggest hinderance, which is just another sorry excuse. Oh wait, I know, it is lack of opportunity, but then again, that doesn’t work either and my family is a prime example of that.
