You saying there is a vaccine?

it appears so....

Annual deaths from influenza are 20-60k. It would take 20 years to get to 1.7 million deaths.

As you can see, your claim that COVID isn’t going to kill as many as influenza is unsupported.
so why incite the public into a panic, and literally stop the productive worker ant(s) from producing?
~S~

I think that is all Trump was trying to do, not scare the pants off people so that they refuse to go to work even though its relatively safe.

Cuomo had an upbeat presser today.
1. More people leaving the hospital each of the last 8-days.
2. Fewer people entering the hospitals the last few days. (a trend or a blip? we'll know next week)

Not to jinx us, but it looks from the last few days that the US curve is bending downward to a peak, like the EU appears to be doing. We'll know that in the next week or two.

I would say information like this is why the lockdowns must continue. We might, just might be starting to make some headway against this thing. Here is some other good information to report.

The percentage rate of increase in confirmed cases per day has been declining for a few days now:

March 24, 2020 - United States - 54,916
March 25, 2020 - United States - 68,489 - 24.7% increase
March 26, 2020 - United States - 85,594 - 24.97% increase
March 27, 2020 - United States - 104,256 - 21.8% increase
March 28, 2020 - United States - 123,776 - 18.7% increase
March 29, 2020 - United States - 142,224 - 14.9% increase

the trend seems to be going the right way. Trump's new date of 4/30 is looking possible.

June 30, 2020 is more realistic. You can't take any chances with this. Its so easy to transmit among people. A choir met for practice in Washington State on March 10, 2020. 60 people came in. They had hand sanitizer, no handshakes or hugs and practice social distancing keeping several feet between each person. No one who came were showing any symptoms.

45 out of the 60 choir members were infected with coronavirus. Of those 5 were hospitalized and two died.

This shows that despite hand cleaning and social distancing, just a couple of people not showing symptoms can infect a large group of people in a building.

No one should be allowed to go back to work at a non-essential service until they have tested NEGATIVE for coronavirus. Thanks to Trump, we don't have the capability to do that yet.

you had a good post going until you added the political bullshit. thanks to Trump and his team, we have more testing capacity than any other country in the world and we are doing more testing than any country in the world.

STFU with the politics and we can beat this thing.

Please stop lying about the testing. You are FOS

No I am not. We have tested more people than any other country and we DO now have tests that give the result in 5-15 minutes. Yes, we are only testing people who have symptoms. Why would you waste a test on someone who is completely healthy?
Those 15 minute tests are NOT in the hands of the states yet.... when are they going to be there, on the battlefield? Weeks? A month? And how many can state's have? Are they too, limited?

Is 100,000 killed from this considered a good job by the President' s team?

Theres your problem. This is short sighted. You shouldn’t think about this very moment. You should be considering what happens next.
So you have a crystal ball that can predict the future? No one knows what happens next. In China and Europe the rate of new infections is dropping, why is that not our future too?

Thank god we have people who do work to predict the future so that we don’t have to suffer the consequences of inaction.

Trump and his team have taken very comprehensive actions to defeat this thing and save american lives. The only inaction has been from Pelosi and the dems in delaying the bill that will help impacted americans and businesses.

It wasn't that long ago that Trump called Obama a horrible failure due to 20k deaths from H1N1 and now Trump will be a fantastic success if just 100k die from COVID.

But of course, that would mean holding himself to a standard that he holds other people.

oops...a day later and your numbers are off by 500.

THAT is how bad this is.

We're going to pass the number of dead from 9/11 today.

in the case of Obozo and H1N1 the death count was at 10,000 before he even acknowledged that there was a problem. Last year was a bad flu year, with 60,000 deaths. Not a single one of you libs demanded we shut down the country when that happened.

The next few weeks will tell the tale, we shall see. What I don't understand is why people like you and seawitch and a few others want the country to fail and more americans to die. Is politics more important than life to you? You are sick.

No I never implied that they were unnecessary. I was merely trying to inject a valid comparison to other diseases that take american lives every year and the FACT that we never seem to get excited over any of them. But this is an election year, and I think thats really what the hype is mostly about. Sadly.

And you're cool with that? What happened to "we must lift restrictions now!" ? Your lord and master changed his tune and you just dance merrily along?

He never said NOW, he said as soon as its safe. and yes, I am cool with it. We all hoped Easter was doable, but it appears that its not.

what did your lord and master Wolf Blitzer say about it? or was it your lordess and mistress Pelosi?

But just yesterday you said this virus was nothing compared to the seasonal flu and that we should just let old folks die so the economy can get going again. "Survival of the fittest" I believe you said. What changed your mind, drone?

I never said it was nothing, I said the annual flu kills more people EVERY year and we never shut down the country because of it. I never said that we should let old people die.

You must be related to Acosta on CNN because like him you never quote anyone accurately. What I said several times is that many of the deaths attributed to corona were probably caused by some underlying condition. If a person dies WITH corona rather than DUE TO corona, that person is still counted as a corona death, so the mortality stats are not accurate.

but I fully understand your issue, you hate Trump and will lie and cheat if you think it might hurt his chances in November, but it won't. The old senile pervert Biden has zero chance, even the DNC power brokers know that and are scrambling to find someone else.

You said "Survival of the fittest". That doesn't equate to letting old people die? We can read your actual words, Fishy. You care more about Trump than the health and well-being of the American people.

I don't know how many times I have to say this. I don't care about Trump. I would enthusiastically give him four more years if not one more person had to die of this virus.

When this all started I had hoped he could put aside his ego driven, self centered Trumpiness and be the President a nation needs during a time of crisis. I actually thought he could at that first press briefing where he took this virus seriously. He stayed mostly on script and didn't get all "Trumpy". That barely lasted a day.

But, hey, the ratings are great!

I don't want my parents to die from this... They have so many good years left in them... I want to spend their last 10 years with them...:( sigh

Why did Trump play this down so much in the beginning, when they told him, the models show 2 million could die, and trump was telling us we had 15 people with it, that could go to zero soon?

Words matter. Facts matter. Truth matters. Leadership matters in life and death matters...

I disagree strongly that your comparison is valid and attempted to point out why.

So please explain these statements. COVID is no worse than the flu. We don’t shut down the economy for the flu. Why would you support shutting down the economy over COVID?

The implication is quite clear.

But, hey, the ratings are great!

show me the post where I used the words "survival of the fittest" I never said or implied that, you are lying again as you always do when defeated by truth and logic.

Have you listened to the daily briefings? The only time he gets testy is when some asshole reporter asks a stupid or snarky question or tries to make a political argument. He has handled this 1000% better than crooked hillary could have. Even you, if you can be honest for a minute, must agree with that.

Theres your problem. This is short sighted. You shouldn’t think about this very moment. You should be considering what happens next.

So you have a crystal ball that can predict the future? No one knows what happens next. In China and Europe the rate of new infections is dropping, why is that not our future too?
Republican governors.

in NY and Cal? are you crazy?

You saying there is a vaccine?

It wasn't that long ago that Trump called Obama a horrible failure due to 20k deaths from H1N1 and now Trump will be a fantastic success if just 100k die from COVID.

But of course, that would mean holding himself to a standard that he holds other people.

in the case of Obozo and H1N1 the death count was at 10,000 before he even acknowledged that there was a problem.

That's just right wing revisionist lies... He recognized the virus within days of the first detection or death, he had a vaccine for it in 7 months, he had testing for it, within a week of it arriving.....

So please, spare us from your Trump Talk, Trump Talk is just another word for lies.

They did...finally, after dragging their feet for weeks. It was not even a month ago that Trmpyanna was saying "we only have 15 cases and that will be down to zero".

But there are still not enough ventilators, PPE and tests.

Most of the Democrats were trying to make sure that our money goes to where it is needed with the appropriate oversight. Both parties should have. Moot since the bill has been signed. You'll get your personally signed Trump Bucks that you can frame in the bathroom for those pent up nights when you need to "relax".

they are on the way this week. They don't just appear out of thin air, they have to be made, packed and shipped. But even with the old tests, we are testing more people than any other country.

I don't see how we can go from 3100 as of today to 100,000. but even if that happens, is 100,000 better than 2,000,000? That was the original projection from the "experts"
Oddly...weeks ago Trump said we had pleny of "beautiful" tests.

Remember?

"Anyone who wants a test can get one"?

and that was true then and its true now. anyone with symptoms can get a test. There were virtually no lines at the testing centers here in NOLA yesterday and we have one of the highest infection rates per capita.
They are only testing 250 people per day per site.

and there are just under 100 test cites operational today. can you multiply 250 times 100? the positive test rate is about 15-18% so that means that 85-82% test negative but have similar symptoms.

Why should we test people with no symptoms?
