This is a simple poll to make a relevant political point.

In the 2016 Presidential Election, one of the primary reasons that Trump voters voted for Trump over Hillary was to DENY Hillary the chance to nominate any Supreme Court justices. Trump won the election. It would be a betrayal of HIS voters confidence for him to do anything less than what he was elected to do.

That was a biggy but so is other issues. Different people voted for him for different reasons. One he is not a war hawk. He is a business man and was not a politician. He promised those who elected him the moon and Hillary wasn't electable for a mass majority in rural areas of the country. He also promised he would look out for the working class, the Christians who had been bashed for eight years in favor of moving Islam into to replace them moved out in mass to vote for him and the majority of Christians do not go for killing babies in the womb, he promised people sick of seeing their children destroyed by vaccines help to fend off big pharma and that is to be seen; He doesn't bash the country the vast majority of us all love and do not want to see 'fundamentally changed'; at no time did he say or allude that the people who worked damn hard to build their own homes, communities and businesses, "You didn't build that".

I agree that Trump was not ONLY elected to deny Hitlary a chance to stack the Supreme Court. However, it is the SCOTUS and RBG's passing now that is the headline in the news and that is what this poll and thread is about.

Harry Reid got all sorts of flak for going with the "Nuclear" option. And rightly so, he changed the rules to win the game. When the tables were turned, the GOP did him one better and upped the stakes. Now, many want Mitch to change HIS rule to win. It's a case of might makes right and is a path to chaos. There will be no winners in the long term.

What if the GOP goes ahead and fills the seat and the Dems win the House, Senate, and WH? Will the Dems be justified in putting a few more seats on SCOTUS and flip it from majority GOP appointments to majority Dem appointments? Perfectly legal.

I'm not surprised the the basic point in the OP has sailed right over your head.

One of the reasons that people voted for Trump in 2016 was to give HIM the ability to replace any Supreme Court Justices and to DENY Hitlary a chance to do the same.

True or False?

Democrats MUST LEARN they do not own this SCOTUS seat. It's not their property.
Neither does the GOP. Why not let the people decide as Mitch and Biden have said? I didn't realize how scared of losing the Right has become, that is the only reason I can see to fill the seat before election day.

No.......the Constitution states the President Nominates, the Senate confirms ..........not doing their job creates chaos.....

The dems will do what they want once they have power again......Trump needs to do what the voters in this country elected him to do in 2016 and the Senate needs to do what the voters gave them the power to do in 2018....

confirm the new Justice before the election.

Bwahahahahahaha!

You must mean the election where the Republican Senate (those who advise consent and confirm the SCOTUS Nominees) actually GAINED two more seats!

Why would I ignore that?

It only solidifies my point in the OP.

The people did decide in 2016 and 2018 when they gave the Presidency and the Senate to the Republicans.....the term doesn't end for them in October, it ends in January.......they have the constitutionally given power to nominate and confirm a new Justice.

Oooooh....you called us scaredy cats......that really hurts.................not as much as it will hurt you if we can get that nominee confirmed, you doofus.

There needs to be a odd number of judges to prevent constant tie votes.
The Corrupt Democratic Party will be using mass voter fraud in this election and we need the USSC to protect our Voting Rights.

Yeah the election where Democrats had to defend seats in 10 states that supported Donald Trump (R) over Hillary Clinton (D) in 2016, while Republicans had to defend just one seat in a state won by Clinton. The same election where the Dems gained 40 House seats.

2018 was also the year Democrats gained control of 9 state and territorial governorships that had previously been held by Republicans and an independent. Democrats also won the total popular vote for the year's gubernatorial elections for the second year in a row. Like the 2016 presidential election, Republicans won a majority of governorships despite losing the popular vote by almost three million votes. Democrats won the popular vote nationally by 3.1 points, an improvement against the presidential popular vote margin in 2016.

No...but that won't stop them...and they already said they are going to do it anyway.....

It is long term thinking........the democrats have already stated they are going to dismantle our system of government.....getting rid of the electoral college, stacking the court, granting statehood to puerto rico and D.C., while giving citizenship to 10s of millions of illegal aliens.....

There is nothing to lose by confirming the Justice, and a lot to lose if the republicans feel betrayed by republican politicians again.....

Show me where the Constitution says the popular vote gets to decide who nominates and replaces vacancies on the Supreme Court.
