In time I think those numbers will change as more people realize that the ruling did not make abortion illegal, it only said that there is not right to an abortion in the US Constitution. And that's it, the Court leaves the question up to the states to resolve as they see fit, unless the US Congress can get their shit together and legislate the issue. I think most people don't understand why the Court rules as they did.

I think most people understand that already; even if they didn't remember their basic civics, the issue has gotten an overwhelming amount of press coverage. The other half of that, of course, is that what it definitely did do was to remove a Constitutionally guaranteed civil right, which hasn't happened before in any of our lifetimes. That is a disturbing new path for everyone, but especially women, being the ones that might actually need to use it.

Dude: the Supreme Court did not rule on citizenship one way or the other, for the simple reason that it isn't in their purview. They rule on what the Constitution says and means, and if it ain't there then they don't issue a ruling on citizenship. They left that question up to the states to decide, which is what the 10th Amendment is for.

A citizen and its constitutional protections are instantiated at birth , therefore birth is required for equal protection - that includes a wright to life - it is that simple .

Animal cruelty laws exist but none are claiming that an animal has constitutional protections , rather the nature of the act itself dictates the punishment .

The fetus is without constitutional protections and is private property of the mother , albeit revered , and appropriate penalties are available - note the legal jargon for punishment .

Also note that capital punishment is not available , because removing a wright to life of another is required for removal of ones own , albeit by due process .
