GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry told New Hampshire voters Wednesday that he does not believe in manmade global warming, calling it a scientific theory that has not been proven.

But Perry's opinion runs counter to the view held by an overwhelming majority of scientists that pollution released from the burning of fossil fuels is heating up the planet.

Perry's home state of Texas releases more heat-trapping pollution carbon dioxide — the chief greenhouse gas — than any other state in the country, according to government data.

That's all they can do Stephanie. They know that Obama could never win on his record so the next best thing is to throw mud at the competition, especially those that pose a threat. And Perry poses a big threat.

There is not enough scientific evidence to call global warming a "theory".

It is just an "opinion" of some scientists.

Rick Perry is just giving his personal opinion.

His opinion is just as valid as their opinion.

Perry has the right to his opinions.
If Al Gore truly believes in Man Made Global warming he would not have gone off on a rant like that. He was in it for the money only, and he would not have bought a mansion by the sea, if he really believed that the seas are going to rise.
In other words his actions doesn't match his words.

Good for Perry. I like him more and more.
"The overwhelming majority of scientists" is not how science is established. Science is established by irrefutable proof consisting of testable theories.
So far no one has shown that:
-Global warming is occurring.
-That is't a bad thing if is it
-That it is man made
-That instituting the kinds of controls proposed will actually change it.

So why should we be called on to spend hundreds of billions of dollars essentially for nothing?

Uhhhh.....this is more than "just an "opinion" of some scientists".

Ninety-seven percent of the climate scientists surveyed believe “global average temperatures have increased” during the past century.

Eighty-four percent say they personally believe human-induced warming is occurring, and 74% agree that “currently available scientific evidence” substantiates its occurrence. Only 5% believe that that human activity does not contribute to greenhouse warming; the rest are unsure.

STATS:

And what are Perry's credentials to say that the vast majority of SCIENTISTS are wrong? Does he have some sort of expertise in this area that he's keeping secret?

Perry's a flake. Get over it.

Again, saying temperatures have changed is not the same as saying there is man made global warming.
Perry is right: it is an unproven theory. Anyone with the most rudimentary knowledge of how science works knows this.

Translation: I'm scared to death he'll beat Obama.
It is hard to call someone who has won every election he's run in a flake. A flake would be someone with no experience thinking he's Abe Lincoln or FDR.
Whoops, just described Obama there.

Actually it's not. Since scientists opinions are based on actual research. His is based on ignorance.

Pointing to places where its warm for a day and going, "See that?! Do you see that?!! ManMade Global Warming!!" is neither research nor science

Yeah.

Like Tropical New York City.

It's like Rio De Janerio. Week long spells of 100 degree weather are normal here.

It's funny that after that day it started to rain in parts of Texas.

This is the drought monitor from two days ago:

Perry's rain gods have a lot of work to do.

Good thing that's not what scientists are doing.
