People are accidentally throwing out their stimulus payments — because they look like junk mail

If you are one of the people still waiting for your stimulus check, you probably need to read this!!!

Some Americans may be unwittingly throwing their long-awaited stimulus payments in the trash. That's because, starting last week, the Treasury Department and the IRS started sending out economic impact payments in regular white envelopes that could be confused for junk mail.

While some people have already received their payments as direct deposits or paper checks in the mail, almost 4 million people — including those for whom the agency does not have bank accounts on file — will be getting their stimulus payments in the form of prepaid debit cards. The only problem is that the debit cards come in envelopes that say "Money Network Cardholder Services" and do not bear any federal markings.

That has prompted some recipients to complain that they look too similar to unwanted credit card offers, leading some to accidentally throw the cards — which could contain as much as $3,400 for a family of four — in the trash.

To help taxpayers identify the cards, the IRS said in an FAQ that they will bear the Visa logo and are issued by MetaBank. A letter included with the cards explains that they are the Economic Impact Payment Card. More information is available at eipcard.com.

To activate the cards, taxpayers need to call 1-800-240-8100 to verify their identities and set their PINs. They should also sign the backs of their cards.

The cards can then be used like regular debit cards for online transactions or swiped at stores, where users can also opt for cash back.

Another screw up by the blob. I can't wait to hear the explanations on why anyone at the White House or Treasury thought this was a good idea.

And, oh yeah, save the whole "you guys got mad about the checks with Trump's name" gambit. That isn't the reason the blob's treasury decided, for some reason to send credit cards out in white envelopes with no official markings on it.

They probably want them to throw them away, and is the Gov still sending out sending out stimulus payments! Better late than never.

Actually, the cards are put out by the CARD COMPANY....

The Treasury did that as a last resort to get the stimulus payment to the few remaining people...

So if the Liberals don't have a bank account, and won't accept a check with Trump's name on it, they get a third chance to throw the payment away!!!

And nobody in the blob's administration thought to buy envelopes that said "US TREASURY" on them?

It was quite predictable that there would be this defense of the blob erected by losers like yourself who can't possibly imagine their lord and master making this boneheaded decision.

The cards aren't being mailed by the US Treasury...

They are being mailed by a BANK!!!

Since a bank is a private business, it is actually ILLEGAL for them to use an official government envelope or postage to mail THEIR PRODUCT...

I am a veteran, and had to deal with franked mail on a regular basis, and I can guarantee you that we were prohibited from releasing the envelopes or stamps to non-government entities (to ensure it wasn't misused)...

There is also a letter being included that explains what's going on, but it seems that people aren't reading it, or checking the situation out, so I posted this information to try to help those individuals out...

Illegal. Seriously? Who is going to sue the bank? The Treasury for authorizing the sending in the first place? Really, your excuse making for the blob is reaching goofy levels

PS: You can put whatever you want on the envelope. What you can't do according to your source is use official mail for private purposes. Of which this is certainly not happening in this case.

So you're advocating that the bank print "STIMULUS CHECK" on the envelope, where mail thieves can spot the cards easier???

Or let the envelopes and postage for OFFICIAL MAIL get outside of government control, where the possibility of it being misused can exist (for example, being sold to scammers by an unscrupulous employee, where the scammer can convince people that the scam DID come from the government)??? Those envelopes stay under the DIRECT CONTROL of government entities!!!

Word of this was released before the cards were mailed. (It actually came across my newsfeed).

I was merely warning people that receive the cards to READ THE LETTER,

But, of course, YOU want to say "Orange Man Bad" for attempting to get the money to the remaining people now, instead of making them wait and take it as a tax credit NEXT YEAR...

When my envelope came to me, I knew exactly what it was.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. Is this how all of the money is being given to us or has anyone out there gotten their money at all through direct deposit?

They started with direct deposit, then went to paper checks where direct deposit didn't work...

Now, they are using these cards to finish giving out the payments for the individuals where the other methods didn't work...

To try to reduce mail theft.
It is hard to overestimate the stupidity of people or the people who will support that stupidity.
Well, Candy Ass IS kind of retarded, and has trouble comprehending things that people with common sense understand...

They sent them out in unmarked packaging for the same reason my bank sends checks out in unmarked packaging.

Most likely these are the non-English speakers and will complain because the envelope was was not in their language

So he was a fucking idiot for sending out the checks in Treasury Department envelopes with "Pay to the order of..." visible through the window then right?

Or are you trying to have it both ways?

C'mon shit brains....how can you justify the "strategy" of not having "treasury" on some payments and having it on others?
