I will contend that their closed session testimony confirms what Hutchinson said, and that they refuse to testify in public because some Trump thug threatened to kill their baby daughters, or something to that effect. I will further contend that they will not show up to amend their testimony and are only making the statements now because there is probably some closed circuit video feed of some Trump thug waiting outside thier daughter's private school with duct tape and a cattle prod.

The off-shoring of manufacturing continued unabated, and the manufacturing sector was in a recession BEFORE the pandemic hit. The tax cuts produced NO new jobs, because the trade wars made it impossible for manufacturers to plan long term.

All of the slashing and burning of air and water regulations has made the health of Americans worse, and is leading to deaths of Americans every year. Ignoring climate change is now costing the economy billions of dollars every year in flooding and wildfires.

With all immigration, legal or otherwise, on "pause" during the pandemic, worker shortages, which began during the Obama Administration, were exacerbated by more people retiring or changing career paths after the pandemic.

The chaos and destruction of the basic government infrastructure has slowed your recovery, with the lack of trade agreements with the EU, and other major trading partners, dismantling of the immigration court systems, refugee systems, and replacing them with for profit holding pens.

Trump took over with the lowest illegal immigration in 50 years, and 2 years later had a "national emergency" at the Southern Border, after he dismantled the refugee system there, and separated children from their parents.

Everything Trump focused on "fixing" has been left in a shambles and in chaos. You're blaming Biden for supply chain issues, and people not working, instead of blaming Trump for trying to destroy the country, and nearly succeeding.

Great post, and spot on. The trade deficit actually increased under Trump. He did nothing about illegal immigration and parts of his wall have already crumbled to dust. Every dime the middle class got from his tax cuts, and then some, were eaten up by his tariffs. Which quite frankly, never was a Republican policy. Republicans have traditionally been for free trade. The corporate tax cut savings went mostly to stock buybacks, which almost every economist worth two shits said would happen. And from every indication, Trump's reaction to Covid was to see how much money he and his cohorts could make, who cares how many people died.

The problem is, Trump is gone but he still casts a shadow over the Republican party. At this very moment, McConnell is holding hostage the USICA bill, the United States Innovation and Competition Act. It is a bipartisan bill, with bipartisan support, that will enhance the country's ability to compete with China, especially in areas of technology. Most importantly, semi-conductors. In many respects, this is a national security issue as American companies have become increasingly reliant on Chinese high-tech parts. And passing that bill would immediately provide relief from inflation.

But nope, McConnell is holding it hostage, claiming he will withdraw support for that bill if Democrats pass a budget reconciliation bill of which one of the major provisions is the lowering of prescription drug prices. It is no stretch to say that McConnell is supporting China's ability to control our supply chain rather than make prescription drugs more affordable. People with that position have no place in Congress. Hell, they have no place at the local diner eating breakfast.
