Dr. Charles Krauthammer produces yet another excellent point of clarity in the repulsively partisan posturing that has devolved into the "torture debate".

Democrat leaders knew of the enhanced interrogation techniques. Not only did they not object, they encouraged the CIA to continue effectively protecting the nation from the continued threats from groups such as al-Qaeda.

Pelosi's distinction between past and present, is as Krauthammer so succinctly puts it, "Clintonian in its parsing..." - and that such a distinction actually proves Pelosi's complicity in the very course of action she now pretends outrage over.

The self rightous condemnation is by Pelosi and her ilk is, "not just cowardly but hollow."

The only point about Pelosi is that she knew about waterboarding as a member of the intelligence committee. Now she is caught out. She is, along with many many others, a political criminal. She deserves to be called on it. Will not change a thing except to increase pubic disgust. And that is a good thing.
