Still waiting for you to answer my question.......tens of thousands died instantly -- from weapons made in the 40's -- how much destruction do you think nukes would cause now??Almost 80 thousand people died instantly when nukes were dropped on a city.....tens of thousands more died from the after effects months later.....So we should save money and arm our military with knives cause they are just as deadly? And the dead would be more if a gun was used obviously. Or should we start arming our military with knives?
Knee jerk response. You have no proof more deaths would have occurred. Depends on many variables.
Still, in true gun grabber fashion, you REFUSE to address the REAL problem.
Knives are much more deadly in close urban situations, but just not in long range confrontations.
For example, the death toll of ancient wars before firearms, was much higher than later wars with firearms.
What medieval weapon can kill that many people that instantly??
The atomic bombs were not at all "instant".
It took many years to make the first 2, hours to fly them to location, etc.
And it was a surprise attack on a civilian population.
After learning what a nuclear attack was like, early warning systems, shelters, etc. make it impossible for similar death rates.
Lots of battles had over a million on each side, and they could easily kill more than 80,000 in minutes with edged weapons.
Especially when it won't be just one side using it
