We should remember too that Detroit's public schools "graduate" students not necessarily by academic wherewithal, but rather based on their attendance. Show up every school day and you'll get a high school diploma no matter how illiterate you are. You're a kid who scratches the school board's back, they reciprocate. And who comes out the big loser in this game? It isn't the teachers or the union goons.
