What the frick PA Republican Party you stuck us with a young Bernie Sanders, John Fetterman, as our state senator for the next six years. Now our state has to endure for six long years a national reputation that PA has a kooky senator that espouses policies that would ruin America! I understand that the Republican primary gave us a scary radical nominee for governor in Doug Mastriano that the terror it triggers if such a person would have gotten the governorship is beyond description and it turned most Republican party workers off toward helping him win but that doesn't justify the party's deficient performance in getting down ballot candidates elected to office. The party's view on Mastriano was understandable he behaved like a religious cult figure where his security type of people obstructed access too him and he had this unconventional view toward religion where God was going to bring Divine intervention to cause his victory and his religious fundamentalism beliefs shaped his view on many issues moving him outside the mainstream and the shady figures and things he was associating with or had past connections too made him a practically unviable candidate for the governor's office.

The Republican Party failed in its obligation to work to get Mehmet OZ elected Senator. There was too much chatter amongst Party rank and file and leaders that this guy was a carpet bagger, a Jerseyite that he had no business trying to become a PA Senator and that he was not trustworthily conservative he was really a liberal talk show host who had liberal friends like Oprah Winfrey and once elected he would resort back to his true colors and become a liberal Senator. This was all self indulging personal biases and it had no business in affecting the Party's performance in an election. There was no Republican Party machine rallying behind Dr. Oz; it was surprising and striking the lack of Republican signs in the suburbs of Philadelphia for Republican candidates. That is important because it engenders in people that your doing something important voting for the Republican candidate. Maybe because I voted at my poling place after 7:00 pm (although I have done it before and didn't experience what I experienced) but I saw no Party poll workers at the polls handing out literature to vote for Republican candidates that is another shortfall that all impresses upon people that your vote for a Republican candidate is important.

There has to be repercussions on the PA Republican Party for this epic debacle of allowing radically kooky John Fetterman becoming Pennsylvania's next U.S. Senator. Whatever rules need to be changed to allow unaffiliated or independent registered voters to vote in PA Republican primaries must be changed and kept changed for at least the next fifty years. Since the Republican Party isn't always going to fully support Republican candidates for the general election that portions of the Republican base don't like we need the primary process to elect Republican candidates that appeal to independents and so are naturally at least relatively strong candidates in the general election. Plus, this system will reduce the current systems tainting of candidates that weakens their chances to win the general election by this it is meant the current system compels candidates to heavily meet the requirements of portions of the Republican base bases whose standards are not in agreement or very compatible with the standards of the general electorate. So we want a system that doesn't give these minor Republican segments of the overall electorate undue influence over Republican candidate selection. Take for instance this election cycle race for the U.S. Senate, having to appeal to the inflexible religious anti-abortion base in the Republican Party Dr. Oz during the campaign answered a question on abortion asking whether abortion is murder he answered in the affirmative because pro-life Republicans see the issue this way well the Democrats in the general election beat the heck out of Dr. OZ over that statement. Also, the current system caused Dr. Oz to make statements indicating no flexibility on gun restrictions so as to jump through the hoop of the zealous Second Amendment rights Republican base and in the general election this made him look like he was out of step with the mainstream by being against common sense gun possession reform!

Critics might say we shouldn't do this because Democrats up to mischief might change their voter registration to unaffiliated and vote in the Republican Primary and sabotage our primary election. This will not happen to a major degree for many reasons for one Democrats inclined to do this could as of today re register as Republicans and vote to sabotage our primary elections and one major reason this won't happen because Democrats are smart enough to know that two can play at that game and if they did it to any significant degree Republicans could reregister as Democrats and sabotage their primary elections. Critics might say well this system would give independents control over our primary elections; this is an unwise perspective the independent vote will at maximum add up to twenty percent of the primary votes in the Republican races so candidates that win will have to largely appeal to the Republican base because this base provides a critical lion share number of votes. Moreover, this will be good for the Republican Party and for the Country as a whole because now we have primaries technically both Republican and Democrat primaries that ignore and treat like they don't exist roughly half of the American electorate that half that is not of their party affiliation this is not good and effective character for a people and a country, citizens should try to accommodate and consider the interests of people that are not of their political persuasion.

The system the PA Republican Party has for running elections is unquestionably terrible and ineffective. I have lived in the suburbs of Philadelphia specifically in the area of Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties for over fifty years and I know the people in this community they may be socially liberal but they are fiscally conservative and responsible that is the way they operate their lives and they expect the same of their elected leaders. It is incomprehensible that this region has as its Congressional representatives Madeleine Dean and Mary Gay Scanlon on economic policy these people are radical left wing they are not fiscally responsible at all. They voted for the $1.9 trillion American Resue Act which amongst an abundance of flaws bailed out union Pension Plans to the tune of $75 billion dollars and thru in the trash the historic fiscally responsible plan for dealing with insolvent pension plans, it spent $350 billion to state and local government mostly operating as wasteful slush fund spending; they voted for the Inflation reduction act which amongst its many flaws increased the price of leases of public lands for energy companies exponentially contributing to the skyrocketing energy prices Americans are seeing, there is a tax on the leaking of natural gas in the legislation that will raise the average families natural gas bill by twelve percent and it spent a fortune on government bureaucracy related to renewable energy and the like which was unnecessary. Now these members of Congress just won their seats by twenty-two percent and twenty-eight percent of the vote respectively I don't know much about Dean's Republican opponent but Scanlon's Republican opponent was a great candidate right out of central casting, a veteran, Naval Academy graduate with a lovely family, the opponents were not the issue. At minimum the reason these Democrat incumbents won reelection is the PA Republican Party did a terrible job in helping their candidates conduct races, the voters in my community heard very little about these incumbents track record with their votes and the meaning of these votes they should have been fired for those votes with nothing to weigh for the voter their record was so bad! The bottom line here is the PA Republican Party is alarmingly dysfunctional and unless radical steps are taken like the one proposed the radical left is going to work their will and crash this country into a wall and it will never recover!
