This is a very well done film, great acting, great dialogue, and so many sub plots and twists throughout the film that at times I was having trouble keeping up with them. This is all based on a true story, and really explains well the uncertainties of subterfuge in military operations, the suspicion and distrust amongst those in charge and those doing the work, and multiple other angles of personal relationships and the unintended consequences of those on the receiving end.

Just a quality film throughout. Check out more about the actual operation itself.

Operation Mincemeat was a successful British deception operation of the Second World War to disguise the 1943 Allied invasion of Sicily. Two members of British intelligence obtained the body of Glyndwr Michael, a tramp who died from eating rat poison, dressed him as an officer of the Royal Marines and placed personal items on him identifying him as the fictitious Captain (Acting Major) William Martin. Correspondence between two British generals that suggested that the Allies planned to invade Greece and Sardinia, with Sicily as merely the target of a feint, was also placed on the body.

Good film, it was much more complex than it sounds

If anyone deserves the first nuclear blow it's that fucking shithole. Brit is the scourge of the planet. They won in 1913. Cancel July 4. It too is a lie

So much more complex. I still don't know if the German head of the Abwehr (not Canaris, who was anti-Hitler, but the head of their spying operation) moved those forces to Greece because he was fooled, or because he wanted to undermine the German effort to help end the war.
