It's true the economy has been doing well till the virus - but there have been periods when it was even stronger. Trumps talks with NK was nothing but a photo op, nothing got resolved. His idea of unilateral trade deals have failed and his cancelling of the Iran nuclear deal increased tension between the US and Iran and has made it easier for them to develop nuclear weapons. His deal with China is really just a stalemate. Most of what he claimed to have accomplished is nothing compared to what he promised just like his big beautiful wall across the Mexican border paid for by Mexico. When hospitalized, nursing home patients tend not to do well, and often get sicker than they would if left in their homes for routine care. What state health officials failed to realize was how ill equipped the nursing homes were in terms of PPE's, staffing and training for dealing with an infectious outbreak.

This went on all over North America is not restricted to New York, or even to Democratic States.

His idea of unilateral trade deals have failed and his cancelling of the Iran nuclear deal increased tension between the US and Iran and has made it easier for them to develop nuclear weapons. His deal with China is really just a stalemate. Most of what he claimed to have accomplished is nothing compared to what he promised just like his big beautiful wall across the Mexican border paid for by Mexico. • He issue an executive order in January that blocked entrance to travelers who were in China but still it allowed over 40,000 to enter the US and spread the virus and this was after the 1st case of coronavirus entered the US from China.
• European travelers that brought the virus to the east coast and subsequently the southeast came from Europe beginning in mid January. It would be two months before Trump banned travel from Europe.
• Trump had no interest in the virus in January or February. As he said, it was just the common flu, a democrat hoax. Thus the pandemic had about zero priority in the Trump administration as it was spreading across the country.

No, neither the CDC nor WHO recommended he disabled the pandemic response team in 2018. His Chief of Staff recommended it. nor did they recommend that he allow the pandemic stockpile of emergency supplies not be replenished,
nor did they recommend that his people fuckup the testing kits and delay ordering test kits till nearly April, nor did they recommend he downplay the seriousness of the virus to being nothing but the common flu and a hoax.
And they are certainly are not recommending now that we scrap the only known defense we have against the virus, masks and social distancing which Trump is no longer promoting.

I fail to understand how a president could fuck this up so badly. He was getting weekly security updates on the virus in December, and January but apparently ignored it. He had the complete genome of the virus on January 5th so there was no reason for not having working test kits after 2 months; most other countries did. He assembled a group of the best epidemic and infectious disease people in the country who gave him the guidelines to slow the virus. All he had to do was promote it and stay the course. However, 3 weeks after he declared a national emergency, he cancelled meetings of the response team after early April and decided it was time to start opening up the country when the virus deaths were increasing by over 5,000 a week.
