I agreed to follow the rules when I signed up and I did.

I didn't try to get subordinates to do dirt for me and then deny that I ever gave those instructions when the investigators came around.

Exactly 100 days since the 6 January riot that saw a pro-Trump mob storm the US Capitol, prosecutors have their first guilty plea.

Jon Schaffer, 53, a member of the Oath Keepers militia group, pleaded guilty to two charges - obstruction of an official proceeding and entering a restricted building with a dangerous weapon.

He is facing 30 years in prison and is expected to co-operate with investigators.

How many arrests so far?

Most of the rioters were allowed to leave the crime scene, forcing investigators to conduct a national manhunt for the pro-Trump crowd that stormed the halls of Congress.

Investigators for the District of Columbia says they have identified over 540 suspects and charged some 400 people in connection with the Capitol siege.

Officials say they are considering filing serious charges of seditious activity against some individuals who were involved in the siege on the Capitol.

According to federal criminal code, seditious conspiracy means an effort to conspire to overthrow the US government.

The punishment is severe: up to 20 years in prison.

WASHINGTON — Newly released court documents allege extremist groups worked together in the weeks leading up to the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol.

In court filings opposing alleged Oath Keeper Kelly Meggs' pre-trial release, prosecutors included Facebook messages in which Meggs discussed coordination with other extremist groups who were planning to be in Washington on January 6.

Prosecutors claim Meggs wrote on December 19: “This week I organized an alliance between Oath Keepers, Florida 3%ers and Proud Boys. We have decided to work together and shut this (expletive) down”

Prosecutors allege even more Facebook conversations in which Meggs discusses tactical planning between Oath Keepers and Proud Boys and his disdain for DC police officers.

Okay, then why aren't all the other instances of riot, unrest, and attacks on government buildings around the country for the past year being investigated and prosecuted like this one is, then?

If we can hold every single person within a square mile of the one guy (or even a few people) who said shit like this, responsible for everything that went on, why aren't there a few hundred/thousand members of BLM/Antifa sitting in county lock ups across the country awaiting trial?



Racism, segregation, Jim Crow, and apartheid were all bad things because there were 2 sets of rules for different people, and that wasn't fair, and it wasn't just...... how is this shit any different?

The compensatory damages sound about right for temporary discomfort. The Lt. had been exposed to CS teargas in training that has much the same effect without compensation beyond his normal pay. I’d like to have seen punitive damages much higher, but only if the officers had to pay them. I’m not a big fan of punitive damage money that goes to victims. I’d be more in favor of them if they went into some sort of fund to compensate crime victims. Having the damages go directly to victims is like rewarding what often is bad behavior on their part. In this case the Lieutenant did nothing to instigate the pepper spraying, but that’s often not the case.

Trump did nothing but put his own snakes in power and on the take. Where is the accounting for the Payroll Protection Plan???? Billions missing and unaccounted for. Or the Inauguration Fund?? $100 million for the small inauguration in recent history. That's twice what Obama spent on the biggest inauguration in history.

Taxpayers don't pay for lawsuits, they are funded by court costs. But taxpayers do pay our Congress people millions of dollars a year to run our country, and the Communists spent two years trying to stop him from running in 2024.

No they are not funded through "court costs". Court costs are the filing fees for the claims - currently less than $250, and various other documents which have no relation to the costs of prosecuting the action which is actually thousands of dollars, even if the matter is settled before trial. And tens of thousands of dollars if it goes to trial.

Anybody prosecuting the action is paid for by the people leveling the law suit. The only time it costs the city is if they prosecute a case which is not Trump's decision; the city decided to do that.
