It seems China is using subsidies to prop up the green energy sector, like every other government in the world including the US. Yet, somehow, they single handily caused the Solyndra collapse.

According to the Department of Energy, solar panel prices have dropped 42 percent since January, largely because of $30 billion in Chinese government subsidies to its solar sector. The United States share of the worldwide solar-panel market has fallen from a peak of 43 percent in 1995 to just 7 percent last year.

Well Obama may try to blame Bush--because the Bush administration REFUSED to loan the 535 million to Solyndra--based on sound financial principles in lending. 535 MILLION taxpayer dollars down the toilet because Obama went ahead and loaned it to this company anyway. Per job created at Solyndra--5.6 million dollars a JOB--

The Bush administration was pressured by Solyndra to loan them this money--so lots of information about this company had been gathered previously before Obama signed off on it. These people had direct access to Obama's oval office door--and we have e-mails going to Joe Biden's desk--(prior to the loan being made) from an analyst stating the Solyndra would be bankrupt by Sept. 2011. The cost to the taxpayers of this country--in jobs created? 5.3 MILLION dollars per job up in smoke.

China government is going full speed ahead to develop practical and economic solar power.

They are funding research and development, their factories are given tax breaks and cheap money to advance that industry.

We should be so smart.

Of course, the fact that if the people in charge of their solar power industry screw up, they're likely to personally suffer consequences might have something to do with it, too.

Here in the USA when our masters screw up, they continue to be masters.

In China they become future body parts for the transplant industry.

I suspect that makes a difference in how sincerely the leaders in our two different societies work toward success, don't you?

They already are trying....and it ain't flying.

The Bush Adm. turned down Solyndra because in their opinion they weren't viable.....unsustainable. They had no market.

So 6 days after Obama takes office he pushes through the deal because he wanted to prove Bush wrong and because it was "Green Jobs".

Obama thought shovel-ready jobs meant shovels needed to remove all of the BS he was going to spew.

The key is allowing the market itself to push forward and funding RESEARCH, not companies.
