What happens when a person can't afford health insurance that the law now requires?

Answer:
They don't buy insurance, and end up getting slammed with a tax at the end of the year. Obamacare taxes the poor.

What happens when a person can only afford a plan with the highest possible deductible, in order to keep their monthly premium down?

Answer:
They can't afford to actually use their health insurance, because they have a little to no disposable income. Thus, they cannot afford the deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance costs associated with actually going to the doctor. Obamacare directly imposes financial hardships on low income people, which they cannot even benefit from.

What happens when a person can't afford to pay their deductibles, but they have an emergency medical problem and end up in the ER?

Answer:
They don't have the money, so they don't pay. Obamacare does absolutely nothing to address the problem of increasing costs of health care due to poor and low income people fail to pay medical bills.

So how is it exactly that Democrats can justify supporting this monstrosity?

They can't justify any of Obamacare. Even those who were supposedly the ones needing help said no thanks to Obamacare.

More people are without insurance now than before they passed this. Why is it no longer a crisis? Now that middle class people lost their insurance and can't afford a new plan, the Dems don't give a shit.

Government gave themselves more power with this law and that was likely the main goal of Obamacare. More will suffer, but that doesn't matter anymore.

The results of Obamacare and the total lack of concern over the increased hardships prove that it was never about health care. They will likely offer up a solution to the disaster they created, which will be single payer. When that proves to be an even bigger disaster, there won't be any other solutions until we get intelligent people in power and gradually get government out of our private lives.

Libs aren't about results. It's enough to just have good intentions.

Obamacare has nothing to do with healthcare.

It's all about control, redistribution and especially who controls the redistribution.

Like it or not, I'm inclined to agree that we're going to be screwed until we either get better people in office (not likely) or things get so bad that people take to the streets in revolution.

Premiums cannot exceed 9.5% of income.

Are you suggesting that these people should remain uninsured?

Premiums cannot exceed 9.5% of income.

You call that affordable?

Let's take someone making $9/hr, single and no dependents

$9 * 2080 hrs = $18,720 yearly income.

18,720 * .85 = $15,912 est. after tax income

$15,912 / 12 = $1326 monthly after tax income

Rent -- $500
Utilities -- $100
Food -- $200
Phone -- $50
Misc toiletries -- $50
Car Ins -- $50
Gas -- $200
Obamacare -- $148

Total monthly expenses = $1298
Total monthly useable income = $28

Are you suggesting that these people should remain uninsured?

I'm not suggesting that anyone should do anything, and the question does not address the point. Obamacare is an assault on the poor and low income people in our country.

Isn't this one reason the Medicaid rolls have increased?

That person would get a subsidy and help with paying the out if pocket expenses.

Are you of the opinion that it us better to remain uninsured?

By the way....you make a good argument for raising the minimum wage.

The person you describe will bet subsidized and pay about 500 to 1000 per year, maybe.

prior to the ACA, they had healthcare available to them at the ER and other emergency clinics....at no cost to them.

We, the tax payer was fine with the cost to the taxpayer.

So enough with the "remain uninsured" crap. They may have not had insurance, but we, as a society made sure they had healthcare.

Do you disagree with this?

Go to healthcare.gov and see for yourself. You can get estimates without signing up.

estimates without signing up...yes.

Accurate estimates including what your deductible will be?

No. You need to sign up for that.

Yeah, people keep saying that. They assume it's true. But it's not.

That's a personal decision for individuals to make for themselves. Not the federal government.

By the way....you make a good argument for raising the minimum wage.

Why, so prices can just rise and everything can be even more expensive, thus offsetting any raise?

And those of us doing the subsidizing are facing a $6,000 tax increase. No one talks about the hardships of people making a decent living who also face paying three times as much for premiums and unrealistic deductibles. We're the ones left in the cold with nothing, yet still face taxes and penalties on top of higher out of pocket expenses for care. People who used to pay good money for insurance can no longer afford it, but are still paying for others. What happens when you can't afford to buy insurance? You go without. Unfortunately, you still fund other people and the liberals think that is fair.

That's about what it would cost them- they're awfully close to getting free Medicaid...140 per cent of poverty line...UNKNOWN TO HATER DUPES...

Actually, these were the issues that Medicaid expansion was supposed to solve. Are there examples you can cite from states which didn't refuse Medicaid expansion?
