No. They would have sent a different notice of increased premiums if the bill hadn't passed. But as the Deere article said, "Deere and Caterpillar Inc., which reported that it would record a $100 million charge Wednesday, say the health care overhaul President Barack Obama signed Wednesday will make a subsidy the companies receive for retiree drug coverage taxable in 2011.

Both companies said it was a one-time charge as they adjust to the new level of expected taxes."

I am no fan of the Obama plan, but I also think the Verizon whining is nonsense. For years, they've offered retirement health to 50-something employees. This added to the cost of everyone's phone service. I'd rather those people go into expanded Medicaid than pay inflated phone prices to cover their health insurance premiums.

It's ok, Obama will dictate that companies will just have to lose money to make sure nobody loses their health insurance. Then the company will eventually go out of business and Obama will blame it on George Bush and the Iraq war. Then Obama will print more money, establish 10 more Czars and create 5 new entitlements.
