Obama: Whites Need Not Apply

The White House issued an executive order on Thursday titled “Establishing a Coordinated Government-wide Initiative to Promote Diversity and Inclusion in the Federal Workforce.” The purpose of the order is “to promote the federal workplace as a model of equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion.” In other words, it would be better for the government if public-spirited white workers sought employment elsewhere. Lost amid all the politically correct box-checking is the principle that the most qualified person should be hired for a job.

In the name of “fairness,” however, the government will intensify programs that discriminate against white Americans by extending special privileges to everyone else.
And what evidence does the opinion piece writer have that applications will be rejected out of hand simply because the applicant is white.

None.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

EOs are carefully composed to ensure they comply with existing Federal legislation. EOs do not supercede Federal law.

The opinion piece writer is either ignorant of these facts or attempting to create some perceived political gain for the right. It’s telling in either case.

Our Nation derives strength from the diversity of its population and from its commitment to equal opportunity for all. We are at our best when we draw on the talents of all parts of our society, and our greatest accomplishments are achieved when diverse perspectives are brought to bear to overcome our greatest challenges.

America derives it strength from having the best fill the position. I think we tried quotas before, hire a certain amount of white vs. blacks vs. American Indian vs. Latino's.

It really didn't work yet we go back to the failed policy.

How about the fact - and it is a fact, that the federal government is not only already achieving it's "diversity" goals, it is surpassing them. So why exactly does the federal government need to be told to have more diversity?

The NAACP wanted to dismiss an entire graduating class of State Troopers because they were mostly white. Fortunately, the AG said "no".

The NAACP’s vow of legal action reignites a contentious debate about why the State Police struggles to enlist new black troopers. While minorities like Hispanics have gained ground in the past 11 years, the percentage of black troopers has fallen from 8 percent to 6.4 percent, state figures show.

With more than one-third of black troopers nearing retirement, their ranks are expected to thin to levels not seen since the division was under federal oversight for discriminatory hiring decades ago.

"It’s actually going backwards rather than forwards," said James Harris, president of the New Jersey chapter of the NAACP. "The state doesn’t keep its promises."

Harris said the state should cancel the recruit class, but Attorney General Paula Dow, who oversees the State Police, said it will proceed. The State Police and the Attorney General’s Office said overall diversity is improving but acknowledged concern about the few black recruits.

Loriquet said recruits must detail their past — from unpaid tickets to criminal convictions — but many forget problems, don’t understand the questions or lie. "There are stringent guidelines, and we’re not going to soften that," he said.

Some things, like a drug conviction, prompt automatic disqualification. But others, such as a poor credit history, are part of a subjective review Harris said hurts blacks.

"If you were arrested for marijuana at age 15, and you’ve had a clean record ever since, that’s an eliminator," he said. "African-Americans are arrested and charged more frequently."

Harris said background checks and all other parts of the selection process must be reviewed. "The screening mechanism clearly has a component of bias," he said.

With the exception of background checks, the Attorney General’s Office declined to say how many blacks began the process for the new class and when they flunked out.

As part of the 2000 settlement with the NAACP, the State Police agreed to revamp its written test and suspend the four-year college degree requirement that could unequally eliminate minorities. It also hired Connecticut-based APTMetrics, Inc. — which has been paid $2.2 million since 2000 — to score the test in a more fair way for minorities.

1. The tests are unfair.
2. The educational requirements are unfair.
3. The criminal background checks are unfair.
4. The credit checks are unfair.

It's bullshit. This isn't about "equal treatment"; it's about lowering standards. How humilating is that to qualified black candidates?

"The soft bigotry of low expectations..."

Considering the objectives of government now days

id say having them hire less qualified people is a great idea.

This is just quotas being instituted in the federal government.

Eventually you'll get 5 or 10 points for being non-white. I can see it coming. Obama already has centralized hiring in the DOD, so applying this will be easy.

The program's heart may seem in the right place but it's actual application is unfair. Certain racial groups will receive special consideration over others. The strange thing is the federal government already is diverse. This is just patronizing to his black voters and seems to be in response to Maxine Water's threats over the last week.

'Give us stuff or we'll roll over you!!!!'

A person's skin color never should be a consideration for hiring.

What does he think this is, 1964????

What facking evidence do you have that government has far surpassed its diversity goals?

For the last two weeks, PJMedia has been publishing a series of articles on the radical attorneys who have been hired as career civil servants in the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division since President Obama took office. The reports reveal an unprecedented effort by Attorney General Eric Holder and his Civil Rights Division political leadership to stack the Division from top to bottom with a cadre of hard core, left-wing partisans. The ideological litmus test being employed is undeniable: conservatives and even apolitical lawyers need not apply. Only fervent liberals are welcome.

For those of you keeping score at home, 71 career attorneys have so far been highlighted in this PJM series. Every one – without exception – has emphatically clear liberal and/or Democratic ties. Think of the odds of that occurring accidentally. It didn’t. Or to put it in terms Thomas Perez can understand, it is an overwhelming disparate impact. Of course it is more than that, too. It is part of a deliberate plan to stock the Division for decades to come with left-wing ideologues who will perpetuate a liberal agenda, irrespective of who controls the levers of government in the White House.

Pajamas Media » Every Single One: The Politicized Hiring of Eric Holder

The Justice Department is concerned with "disparate treatment" as well as "disparate impact" when it comes to affirmative action. But they have no such concern in their own house. Hypocrisy is thy name.

Walk in any office building on any military post in the country.

To be honest.....I think it's despicable if they've been keeping tabs on the ethnicity of employees.

If you want to even things out according to the census....I'm afraid they'll have to fire a bunch of blacks and hire a bunch of Hispanics. Blacks only make up 17% of the total population...so hiring more then that would not be true diversity and equality. Also, more women work in administrative positions and not trade positions in the government. We need to get girls into the shops and out of air-conditioned offices.

It's only fair.

I'm not complaining but the EEO office at Ft Campbell has no whites. Fancy that.

I did not say 'far surpassed', I said it had surpassed them. Less hysteria, more logic, works wonders for an individual's credibility, little man.

Look at the numbers, the federal government employs minorities at higher rates than the national average. That, little man, is surpassing it's goal. If they were 'representative', they would be the same as the make up of society - they are not, they are higher. I have no issue with that... as long as whoever is employed is the best person for the job, not the best minority candidate.

I was raised in the military starting in the late 50's,

integration started in the service long before any attempt by civilians to integrate.

End of story.

Obama is pretty despicable when it comes to wedge-issues where race is concerned.

Last week it was announced that 300,000 deportees will be allowed to remain (and qualify for food stamps) just to shore up the Hispanic vote.

This latest directive is intended to placate the Maxine Waters in Washington that are feeling ignored.

Anyone who opposes ether directive will be automatically labeled a racist.

This makes me long for the day that we can once again have a President that is willing to piss of his own party to make a non-political decision but is good for everyone.
