No, this is not from The Onion. (Funny how many of Obama's recent statements are worthy of that publishing medium and no other.)

He made a speech to the Iranian people today to try to influence the course of treaty negotiations (after bashing Republican Senators for doing pretty much the same thing). and said:

Obama said:
The days and weeks ahead will be critical. Our negotiations have made progress, but gaps remain. And there are people, in both our countries and beyond, who oppose a diplomatic resolution.

Yes, folks, the President of the United States just announced, in a public address, that American citizens who disagree with him and want to block the Iranian terrorist government from getting a nuclear weapon, are similar to the very Iranian terrorist government officials who WANT to get those nuclear weapons.

But he wasn't finished.

He then explained why he believed his negotiations would prevent the Iranian terrorists from getting the Bomb: They promised him they wouldn't.

Obama said:
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has issued a fatwa against the development of nuclear weapons, and President Rouhani has said that Iran would never develop a nuclear weapon.

Of course, if they kept their promises, it would be one of the first times in their history. Does anyone (besides Barack Obama) expect them to?

There is no truth to the rumor that the Iranian terrorist government officials also promised the Iranian people "If you like your health plan, you can keep your health plan. Period.", and "There's not a smidgen of corruption in my government's department." No, that was some other country's leader. With equal credibility.

Keep in mind that, when the Iranian people were trying to rise up against their own government four years ago and begging for U.S. help, he ignored them, leaving them to the tender mercies of the Iranian terrorist government.

Now he wants them to believe that he has their best interests at heart, and that they should move against their terrorist government to let his negotiations succeed (letting that terrorist government get a nuclear bomb after ten years).

Does he actually think his fabrications and fakery will be believed any more by the Iranian people he betrayed, than by the American citizens he has betrayed?

Oh, might wanna study up on "false equivalence" and "non sequitur" there, Junior.

On his deathbed Neville Chamberlain is reported to have said "If only Hitler hadn't lied."

Liberals on this board would immediately excoriate you for "comparing Obama to Hitler" with this quote.

But those same liberals would swear up and down that there's no comparison being made between American citizens trying to block Iran from getting nukes, and Iranian terrorist govt officials trying to get those nukes, in the quote referenced in the OP.

ODS is strong in this one. Even the most extreme tea party retard wouldn't even read that much bullshit into that...your hatred of progress is noted.

I don't see how anyone could still be stupid enough to believe anything Obama says. How many times do they have to be lied to before realizing he's full of shit?

Have ya ever listened to, or been temped to listen to one of his speeches backwards.

He's the Devil I tell ya!!!

mrobama shoulda helped out the Iranian student protesters a few years back . Now mrobama is talking to Iranians that survived those protests but he is really just begging the Iranian religious government to let him have his bad nuke deal .

First, it wasn't Ayatollah Ali Khameini that made the fatwa. It was Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini that made that fatwa, long gone now. Nor, even then, were details ever made of it.

Yeah, now the Khameini that made these statements, sure we can believe them-

Ayatollah Khamenei Raps Hostage Talks He Disagrees With Rafsanjani s Vow to Help Free Them - latimes

NICOSIA, Cyprus — Iran's spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said today that Iran will never hold talks with the United States. Hours earlier, Iran had renewed an offer to help free Western hostages in Lebanon.

The official Islamic Republic News Agency, monitored here, reported in a commentary late Sunday that Tehran was "ready to use its maximum influence for the release of all hostages" if the United States released Iranian assets worth billions of dollars it froze 10 years ago.

But Tehran Radio, also monitored in Cyprus, quoted Khamenei today as saying no Iranian leader will negotiate with the United States.

"Next to the usurper regime ruling over occupied Palestine, you are the most cursed government in the eyes of the Iranian people. No one in the Islamic republic will hold talks with you," the radio quoted Khamenei as telling U.S. leaders.

Whole thing's a charade. Iran already has Nuke capabilities. Now it's just playing the West the way North Korea does. You can bet American Tax Dollars will flow into Iran eventually.
