Via EPA regulations Obama is attempting to take over control of the trucking industry via support by the ATA (American Trucking Association) Many call the ATA the "Anti-Trucker Association".
The Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) opposes the new regulations. Nearly 96 percent of registered motor carriers in the U.S. operate 20 or fewer trucks. The ATA represents the big shippers and receivers, not the independent truckers and, like GE, they are cozying up with Obama for the goodies. These regulations are the first of their type within the trucking industry and will require manufacturers to cut fuel consumption and emissions for model years 2014 through 2018.
This unnecessary legislation promises to put the EPA in charge of yet another fundamental sector of our economy -- the transportation of goods....and at the end of the day it will be the American Taxpayer who will pay...and pay...
