Where is Barry Lin and the ACLU?

A US Senator running for President campaignes in a Church and they do nothing

Oh, it was Obama - he is a black liberal - no wonder they are saying nothing

Here is how the liberal media "reported" the Obama rally in the Church

[Obama said:] "We are going to usher in a new America ... Not only by providing health care for every American in this country, not only for every child to have a decent education, not only by ending the senseless war in Iraq, but also by electing as president, Barack Obama."

He also called on the community to help ... "This campaign may be a vehicle for your hopes and your dreams, but ultimately it is going to be because of you." ...

[Stevie] Wonder was ushered onto the stage next to Obama, where he sang a song saying in part "Barack Obama is going to be the next president," as the congregation amened.

Who cares? The ACLU wouldn't complain about campaigning in churches...every single Presidential candidate in the last 20 years has done it.

about Mitt Romney getting financial support from the Mormon church. Now if that doesn't violate their tax-exempt status, nothing does.

The ACLU will not complain - as long as it is a Democrat doing the campaigning

The difference between the ACLU and cocksuckers like you is:

"Pastor Lewis and his church members were ordered to stop, not because there was some ordinance they were violating or that the noise rose to the level of disorderly conduct, but because the police were concerned that the persons hearing the message might react against it," said ICLU Legal Director Ken Falk. "This appears to be a classic case of a 'heckler's veto', which is unconstitutional." - http://www.aclu.org/freespeech/protest/11484prs20040716.html

It didn't matter to them that the Paster was and his Church members were taking part in an anti-abortion protest. The ACLU does not have any problem with the legal exercise of Obama's or Romney's rights to speak to religious audiences on private property. If and when a Church violates a federal election law than the ACLU will likely sue but in this case it isn't illegal for Obama or any candidate to speak in a Church building. It isn't a violation of the First Amendment to do so but it would be to prohibit people from speaking in a Church based on the content of their speech. If the Church has broken any federal election law please cite it. You have 5 minutes to do so or prove yourself an ignorant ass.

The difference is the ACLU is wholly owned subsidiary of the DNC and is will attack any Republican that campaignes near a Church let alone inside one

Cite one instance where the ACLU has done so and I will cite instances where the ACLU routinely defends the rights of conservatives to express their opinions.

You won't come up with equal numbers. The ACLU is the mouthpiece for the secular progressive movement who instead of allowing the will of the majority (as in voting public) to rule, backdoor issues and have their will enforced on the majority via legislating from the bench.

the ACLU are judges that legislate from the bench? hmmmm? ;)

You may not agree with the policy positions of the ACLU, but at least they are consistent in their beliefs...they defended both Rush Limbaugh in his medical privacy case and the right of the KKK to march in Skokie.

Personally I dont care whether Obama campaigns in a Church. I think if Churches want to be campaign stops they should be allowed to exercise that right.

The ACLU and Barry Lynn will see that does not happen

Can you show examples of the ACLU complaining about the specific issue of campaigning in churches? I have seen politicians do this for a long time and have not found an example of the ACLU having a fit over it. Perhaps a case exists, but I haven't found it.

so many cons HATE the ACLU- maybe because they defend our Constitution which Bush says is "just a goddamned piece of paper".

I think Politicians should be allowed to campaign in front of a Church group as with any other group of people that they wish to campaign to.

I do believe however, that a Pastor of a Church should NOT campaign for a candidate or party while in the pulpit in Church on Sundays.

As a not for profit business or as a non profit, it would be in violation of their tax exempt status.

Care

Politicians of both parties campaign in churches constantly. It is the church leadership that cannot preach a political position from the pulpit without risking their tax exempt status.

the fact is: candiates from both parties have attended services and given speeches in churches for a long long time, and the ACLU has NEVER complained once about any of them.

And while you are so hot about the ACLU, why don't you ask your mentor and talking point provider - and world renowned Oxy-moron, Rush Limbaugh, what HE thinks about the ACLU now that they came to HIS defense when he was caught in the drug bust.

Is that why the ACLU and Barry from Americans for the Seperation of Church and Stae threaten to sue?

It seems they go after Republicans but so far - nothing on the Obama campaign stop

BTW, Rush did not ask for any help. The ACLU knew there was no case so it provided good cover to offer help - even though they knew they would have do nothing with the case

Rush is still on the air - much to the dismay of libs everywhere
