No. Simply checked that town and looked to see how far you could count on having good medical services and Utica was the obvious choice, but it is 58 miles hospital to hospital. Nothing this time of year. Possibly serious sh#t on a cold winter snow night up there.
Lots of small towns around here in West Tennessee the size of Lowville, NY have cut back or cut out maternity room services long before this for economic reasons, liability reasons, staff moving to high paying pastures, money losses treating people who can't or won't buy insurance. I am sure Covid not helping. Jackson, Madison County General is a medical hub in all West TN, the home of West TN Healthcare in a county of a little over 100,000. The baby chimes ring there day and night.

The thread is about the mandate, but not half the problem of small town hospitals face in maintaining quality standards and services underfunded by their small demographic. Sad truth is hospitals are expensive businesses but the services cost to those facilities is same as in the larger markets. That one mostly serves the 5,000 people in that town. Pretty low number to support a full service hospital.
Just because somebody writes an article does not mean they and their hospital have not been stressed more by sheer economics for years. It is, what it is, and it is coast-to-coast in small demographic towns.
