Unreal handling of claim made regarding MOH recipient:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/09/us/09muslim.html?pagewanted=2&hp

...Too many Americans overlook the heroic efforts of Arab-Americans in uniform, said Capt. Eric Rahman, 35, an Army reservist who was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq at the start of the war. He cited the example of Lieutenant Michael A. Monsoor, a Navy Seal who was awarded the Medal of Honor after pulling a team member to safety during firefight in 2006, in Ramadi, Iraq.

Lieutenant Monsoor died saving another American, yet he will never be remembered like Major Hasan, said Captain Rahman.

Regardless, he said, Muslim- and Arab-Americans are crucial to the military’s success in Afghanistan and Iraq.

“Take a look at these conflicts,” he said. “We need those skill sets, we need those backgrounds, we need those perspectives.”

Problem is:

Official Biography of MA2 Monsoor

...Though he carried himself in a calm and composed fashion, he constantly led the charge to bring the fight to the enemy. His teammates recall his sense of loyalty to God, family, and his team. He attended Catholic Mass devotionally before operations, and often spoke lovingly of his family - his older brother, a police officer and former Marine for whom he held great respect; his sister, a nurse; and his younger brother, a college football player...

where is the problem, there are christian arabs.

You're technically correct, which is probably what NYT's means too, though the inferences were clear. Especially with the headline:

Complications Grow for Muslims Serving in U.S. Military

A Muslim soldier goes on a killing spree and the NY Times wants to start pinning Medals of Honor on the rest of them.

Lame.

ok, i see your point.

the whole article is about muslims in the military, then they switch it to arab-americans in the last paragraph to be able to include the MOH recipient.

not very good reporting there.

it's pretty crazy to assume that Arabs would be more prone to commit terrorism based on race or ethnicity. Which means that article does nothing at all to help Arabs in the military.

Steve Jobs, Ralph Nader, Casey Kasem are all arabs ethnically and clearly behave like any other American caucasian. it's the Islam that's the problem. it's the Islam.
