Nose and breathing

It looks like the nose is not meant for breathing. Fish have a nose, but they do not breathe it, which means that evolution has created a nose not for breathing, but for smelling. It is probably correct from the point of view of nature to breathe through the mouth and not through the nose. This is at least logical.

In fish, the nose is not associated with the respiratory system at all. We apparently have a through passage due to the fact that if you breathe in air, it has a stronger effect on the olfactory receptors. But it was not designed directly for breathing.
 
The cavities through which we breathe air and ingest food are all connected. We could just as easily eat through our noses and breathe through our mouths. But, our taste receptors (and our teeth) are in our mouths and our olfactory receptors are in our nose.

Mouth breathing can cause all kinds of health problems.



Mouth breathing is one of the reasons that LWNJ moonbat Democrats tend to be ugly and neurotic.

Maybe this is exaggerated. some people have chronic runny nose and breathe through the mouth, with intense physical exertion, we breathe through the mouth. And nothing terrible happens

I disagree. Terrible things do happen to chronic mouth breathers.

We don't intensely physically exert ourselves 24/7. When we get winded we will temporarily supplement our oxygen supply by breathing through the mouth until we catch our breath. Then a healthy person will go back to nose breathing.

Prolonged mouth breathing also causes dry mouth, that's bad for your teeth because your saliva protects your teeth. And on top of that what little saliva is left is cooled and exposed to pressurized carbon dioxide that you exhale through your mouth. This lowers the pH level of your saliva, thus making your saliva acidic. So rather than protecting your teeth, it attacks your teeth.

This can lead to chronic halitosis, tooth decay and periodontitis. Periodontitis is linked to heart disease.

And habitually breathing through your mouth also deforms your face because when you are breathing through your mouth your tongue is not in it's natural position supporting the upper palate of your mouth. Over time this causes facial deformities that may result in chronic sinus problems and crooked teeth.

Also, an important vasodilator, nitric oxide, is produced in your nasal cavity and absorbed by your lungs when you breathe in through your nose. A nitric oxide deficiency can cause health problems such as hypertension and erectile dysfunction.

Mouth breathing all the time is very detrimental to your health.

As far as I understand, this goes through vascular relaxation, therefore, inhalation of nitric oxide should lead to hypotension and erectile dysfunction

In addition, it apparently leads to additional oxidative destruction
Nitric oxide can be transformed (by combining with superoxide radicals) into the form of peroxynitrate, which can then form many molecules that bind to the unhealthy condition⁠

By the way, there is another moment here. The "positive" effect of NO on erection has a mechanism analogous to Viagra: it is a "swinish" erection due to stimulation, and not a healthy natural erection.
