Raising a Banner of Bold Colors: Republicanism Lost, but Conservatism Did Not
by Newt Gingrich, Human Events
November 13, 2006

When it comes to the lessons of the 2006 elections, it's very important to set the record straight. I traveled throughout the country this election year. I met with Americans in all the key states. And what I now understand is this: Republicans lost, but conservatism didn't.

Can someone like Gingrich, who's had, what is it now, 3 wives really be a legitimate voice of conservatism?

Of course. Even the Devil knows Who God is... You can KNOW what is true or good or correct, even if you aren't always a good example of it, yourself.

Newt gets it right? His answer is blaming the media. The Republican defeat at the polls was all the result of the elite media. What utter balderdash from a morally and intellectually bankrupt GOP talking head. Could it be that the real reason for the turning out of the GOP was its own intellectual and moral bankruptcy? Ya think?

If you bothered reading the article, he said the problem was Republicans abandoning their conservative roots. He doesn't blame the media at all.

You expect Bully to read what he wrote? Why should he? he already thinks he knows what Newt is going to say.

Newt Gingrich is by far the most viable voice for conservatives on the political scene today. He knows exactly what is going on and knows how to communicate it well as he does in this article. The Left absolutely hates him with a spitting passion which, imo, is exactly why he should be in the running for President, especially against Hillary. His failings with women means he falls in that 50% divorce category which represents a whole lot of people today. Although he's not perfect, I think he'd make a great President for conservatives.

If you hate him he's gotta be good !!!

What in the world are you talking about?????

The child molester from South Florida whose name was still on the ballot.

The crook Wheldon(sp?) that lost his seat in Pennsylvania.

Frist who apparently engaged in illegal stock trading (who thankfully finally decided to keep his promise regarding his own term limits).

Harris, here in Florida, who has ties to Abrahamoff.

Just to name a few.

How much of the conservatism, which Gingrich promised in the 1994 “Contract with America”, did Gingrich abandon while he was Speaker? The GOP’s full-force abandonment of conservatism began in 1995, with Gingrich at the helm.

I once heard that Gingrich served divorce papers to his first wife while she was in the hospital for cancer treatment. Since then he has had at least one more wife and one more divorce and he’s now on either a new girlfriend or yet another wife (assuming the woman was stupid enough to marry him).

If the serial philander Gingrich is the pre-eminent voice of American conservatism, I will gladly be called a liberal, they cannot be any worse.

Weldon wasnt a crook. Im tired of Libs lying about that. The guy submitted his case to review voluntarily TWO YEARS AGO and was found to have done nothing wrong. But suddenly they are searching his daughters place? If you havent noticed they didnt find anything. Why? because he didnt do anything.

If thats the best the left can do, then we are in pretty good shape. Especially since EVERY ONE of the Democrat leadership is corrupt.

I think the Dems were voted in simply because voters had no other alternative available. If the voters were so hot for what the Dems were offering, I am sure more than a little over 40% would have shown up at the polls. And don't overlook the fact that Blue Dog Democrats were sent to Washington by voters living in the Red States.

You're a Democrat talking about "intellectual and moral bankruptcy"??? GIVE ME A BREAK, BULLY!!! If I'm not mistaken, it was the Dems who sent Mendenez (NJ) and Jefferson (LA) back to Washington. You should clean up your own house before looking askance at the Republicans.

B.S., Flaja. You know darn well why Mark Foley's name was still on the ballot; he was not a candidate for the GOP. The rest of your stuff is nothing more than mud slinging in the hopes that some of it will stick. You'll have to come up with better than that.

Since you brought up Jack Abramoff, were there no Dems who had ties to him? And what about the Dems voting to return Menendez and Jefferson to Washington? Care to comment on Harry Reid and his land deals in Las Vegas, or all the Mexican illegals that Nancy Pelosi hires for her hotels? All of that should be really good for a laugh.

Dont forget Murtha. The Feds got him on tape saying he would be interested in a bribe at a later time.

None of that is even CLOSE to the fact that Pelosi may be picking Hastings to be the leader of the Intelligence Committee. A Carter appointed Judge who was IMPEACHED and CONVICTED by a Democratic House and Senate in 1988 and removed from office for accepting bribes by defendants in cases he presided over. Talk about the lowest of scum. This guy shouldn't be able to even hold a Top Secret clearance, yet she may put him on the Intelligence committee. Republicans may have their problems but at least they don't shit on our country's National Security like the Dems are so good at doing.

In 1987 a panel of federal judges ruled that Hastings had lied and manufactured evidence during the trial, and recommended to Congress that he be impeached.

The evidence against Hastings presented during the subsequent House impeachment and Senate trial was largely circumstantial, focusing on calls between Hastings and Borders during the federal investigation of the scheme.

The House in 1988 voted 413-3 to impeach Hastings and the Senate voted 69-26 to convict and remove him from office. Pelosi and her current second-in-command, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer of Maryland, both voted to impeach.
