A New York state resident was sentenced on Thursday to 22-1/2 years in prison for trying to recruit fighters to join Islamic State in Syria - the longest prison term handed out yet to an American convicted of supporting the militant group.

Mufid Elfgeeh, 32, of Rochester, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth Wolford of the Western District of New York. The district's U.S. attorney, William Hochul, called Elfgeeh "one of the first ISIL recruiters ever captured," using another acronym for the militant group.

A North Carolina federal judge last May issued the second-longest sentence for Islamic State-related activity – 20 years and three months in prison – to Donald Ray Morgan, 44, for trying to provide material support to Islamic State, and for unlawfully possessing a firearm.

If he were recruitiung people to wage war against us here, I agree. Treason, trial and execution if convicted. Recruiting for somewhere else? His sentence seems more appropriate.

ISIS & Al-Qaeda are being killed and bombed wholesale. They are not going to tick us off anymore by doing something stupid.......UNLESS THEY can get a real win, such as as politician or a significant target.

Terrorist are - People of convenience, and perform operations that provide significant results with the least effort and manpower. History time over....and especially since the 70s has proven that.

Their new tactic is recruiting....calling out to others inside society to perform terrorist acts, to save current soldiers / martyrs.
