After Canada experienced record-breaking jobs growth last year as the economy rebounded from COVID-19 and lockdowns, a new report finds that the biggest driver of employment during the pandemic was hiring in the public sector, not the private sector.

When Statistics Canada published its Labour Force Survey after the end of 2021, it showed a record increase in job growth. But a new Fraser Institute report — Comparing Government and Private Sector Job Growth in the COVID-19 Era — released earlier this month found that between February 2020 and July 2022, jobs in government increased 9.4 per cent, making up the vast majority of that growth. The private sector saw relatively flat jobs growth of just 0.4 per cent, the report finds, including self-employment. More than 86 per cent of all new jobs created in Canada during that time period were in the public sector.

Come to Ontario, it's a Police State by many definitions, rivaling, maybe even surpassing, the former East Germans. We've had multiple governments (currently a pro-cop conservative administration) all of whom have dramatically increased our record debt and government employment.
