Killian was charged with a felony of possessing, selling or molesting marine turtle eggs/nest, a misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended driver's license, and two ordinance charges of alcohol beverage on a beach that does not allow alcohol and driving outside the driving area.

Bullshit charge. Just a clump of cells. It's not a turtle until it hatches. ;)

How is that more of a crime than driving over a cockroach on the highway? If he did it on purpose, maybe, but all he saw was sand. He didn't see the zygotes under the sand.

The ability to drive on the beach in Daytona sponsored by the Brotherhood of Local Tow Truck Drivers...

That's big news down here. People in northeastern Florida are serious about their turtles...

Same in Texas.
You dont fuck with the turtle nests!!
On S. Padre National Seashore they have volunteers that ride up and down the beach on fourwheelers looking for nests and those who mess with them.
This is a 60+ mile stretch of uninhabited beach where a 4x4 is needed to run it. The vast majority of people will take a GPS location and mark them for the volunteers to come back and mark them properly.
We've been lucky enough to come across the nestlings as they made their way to the water a couple times. You feel obligated to run off the seagulls that are trying to eat them.
