Nancy Pelosi in Trouble

Young, restive Dems want change in House

Rep. Tim Ryan's (D-Ohio) long-shot challenge to House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) has shone a rare public spotlight on rank-and-file frustrations that have simmered, largely in whispers, for more than half a decade.

Those restive voices agree that the Democrats need a hefty shakeup to get back on a winning track. But there's lingering dissent about the roots of the party's problems, what changes would best address them and whether Pelosi and the current leadership team are best suited for righting the listing ship.

The debate –– and Pelosi’s reluctant decision to delay leadership elections until Nov. 30 to accommodate longer discussion –– have highlighted the inner turmoil among Democrats seeking a new strategy to correct problems many say transcend one disastrous election cycle.

“It's not just about messaging,” said Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.). It's about “who the hell we are [and] where we're going.”

In the view of Ryan and some other newer lawmakers, regional diversity is key, and the only way to reverse the party’s misfortunes is through a changing of the guard at the very top.

Ryan says Pelosi, a liberal icon from San Francisco who's radioactive in the eyes of conservatives, simply doesn't speak to the Rust-Belt workers like those in his district, where voters split the ballot in favor of him and Donald Trump, the Republican president-elect.

Getting rid of Pelosi is just the cherry on top of this last election!

The knives are coming out and the old guard of the DNC is about to fall. Republicans did it before the election and democrats shall do it now.

Since Pelosi is the main cash cow of house Ds this should be interesting.
I see one choice that MIGHT work for them. The Mayor Deblabbo runs for a house seat in the off year becomes minority speaker. New York is the only democrat state still stable enough to replace California.

The power shift is going to be more than a person, its going to be a state.

That would be the final icing on the cake!

I look around, and cannot believe our fortunes.

Obama is leaving and being replaced by a Republican

The Clinton's are now fading away.

Harry Reid is going away.

House and Senate still with the GOP.

33 of the nations governors will be Republicans.

Only 5 states will have a Dim trifecta (governor and state Senate and House) which is a historic low.

And now maybe even the end of Pelosi's reign.

I feel like this is a dream.

dont we all wish that someday soon,,Pelosi will go for a workout, and at some point in the gym, two work-out machines attack her and take out an eye and one ass cheek?

Three economic problems with this idea:

Having massive state and local taxes is already causing mass emigration from the Blue wall. This will get much worse if federal tax rates are reduced as planned this will get much worse fast.

The bond ratings and yields for munis from the true blue states sound like those of a banana republic when adjusted for current tax rates. Any increase in rates and a lot of blue states will join CA in being parttime banana republics

The prospect of having federal funds withheld as planned will likely put many of them over the edge even with complete capitulation prior to action being taken.

The blue wall ceasing to exist except as wards of federal bankruptcy courts under Chapter 3 by 2018 is very high. NY, CA and IL are trying to migrate to FL, GA, NC, TX & VA is happening while I type So those state may be the new blue wall.

When you factor in the billions of dollars extra that go to a speakers home state via contracts and benefits it could be a death blow to California.

Oh please, please, please demos, don't get rid of ye ole wrinkled leader. She is divisive, rude, ugly and generally unlikable. Which makes her perfect to continue the unraveling of the American Socialist party, or commonly known as democrats.
