''Smilin'' Phil Murphy, a far left democrat, wants to ban what he calls ''high caliber'' rifles such as the .50 cal for no obvious reason other than he's a far left democrat. According to his Highness, such rifles can take down a helicopter. The .50 cal ban is among a host of new restrictions the dems want to impose.

Aside from those common occurrences of people shooting down helicopters, I'm sure this knucklehead and those like him are convinced that a 4-1/2 ft long, 35 lb. rifle that shoots ammo costing $7.50 / round will be the firearm of choice for street punks looking to rob a 7-11.

He never explains why, or how, a .50 cal is a ''weapon of war'' and never explains how these are ''on our streets''.

Restrict the rights of law abiding people while turning criminals loose with no bail and no charges for the crimes they commit. Democrat misfits live in an upside down world,

"Ban the sale of .50-caliber firearms," said Murphy, adding that high-caliber weapons "can take down helicopters. Ukrainians need them. We don't need them in New Jersey. Who can seriously argue that these weapons of war belong on our streets?"

What a dumb ass.

Hey, Murphy, you and people like you are the reason the Second Amendment was included in the Constitution.

It'll be struck down quickly if passed into law.

New Jersey's law against hollow-point ammo will also soon be struck down.

The US Supreme Court has begun to enforce the Second Amendment.

Ack!

I of course meant to write New Jersey.

Is there an emote for mortified embarrassment?

Maybe I can ask the moderators to fix it?

It has become obvious that the more vociferous one is about firearms, is inversely proportional to what they know about them.

This is why hunters should support the fight for the 2nd Amendment....many still don't realize that their deer hunting rifles are actually used by the military as sniper weapons........and that the left is anti-hunting in the first place. Too many hunters think that their shotguns and bolt action rifles will not be targeted by gun grabbers......they couldn't be more wrong.....

Ole Phil is quite the high caliber danger himself. For a while there he led the country and even globe in Covid mortality rate. He took out quite a few poor New Jersians with his efficiency at ineptness.

I wonder if Murphy is aware that most black powder muzzle loading rifles are in calibers ranging from 50 to 58? Lately it seems like democrats prefer inane grandstand comments to actually doing something about the crime rate.

Yeah....they want to ban those too.....

Oh, the very last thing irrational gun-haters want is to disarm criminals.

No, they want to disarm the law-abiding -- because armed people don't get on boxcars.

The reason is clear. Rifles chambered in 50 BMG are anti vehicle weapons and can be used to defeat light skinned vehicles the government will one day use to put down resistance to it's tyranny.

The left is consumed with control. Everything from thought to action they want to control. We see clearly what is happening in the leftist run cities with endless gun control laws but little effort by leftist DA's to stop criminals. It's a rhetorical question but ''why will people welcome the opportunity to be disarmed in the face of rising crime and shrinking police response''?

That's really a great point. I think Murphy is just reciting a leftist narrative while not knowing any facts. Perhaps a years ago he made a completely nonsensical comment about ''not wanting people running around with silencers''. This was in connection with the congressional Hearing Protection Act. He really did have this Hollywood'ized version of silencers and, of course, presumed cities would be plagued by completely inaudible gunfights.
