We have suffered a major setback...there is no denying that.

The natural kneejerk reaction it's to lash out, point fingers, distance oneself from defeat.

Instead, I would ask that you take time to process the election results and thoughtfully consider the ramifications of the election, the constructive criticism that you glean from that reflection, and how we can rectify the shortfall we suffered here.

What we need is an After Action Review, not a rerun of the Blame Game.

Defeat is a fork in the road...one path leads to internal destruction, the other to strength through adversity.

Today we choose...choose wisely.

I'm positive the liberals will lampoon this thread mercilessly.

They would like nothing better than to witness the self destruction of the Republican party.

Simply ignore it.

They have their motivation....we recognize it...it is no threat.

Alinsky's rules only work if you allow yourself to be cowed by them.

EDIT at 9:30...I am happy to amend this post to read "Some Liberals" as some have posted gracious comments in this thread...kudos to them.

I for one would like to see the Republican party recognize the realignment that's taking place and adjust itself accordingly. As it is, they've set themselves up as slightly whiter, slightly richer, slightly dumber version of the Democrats. If they're not going to offer a real alternative, they shouldn't bother.

Am I happy Obama has 4 more years? No. But I AM happy that Mitt Romney isn't President either because Americans would have gone back to sleep thinking we'd been put on the right track. As it is they're waking up. If it's too late well, we'll certainly find out won't we?

The glass is half empty. It's a Pyrrhic victory. Etc...

I'd like to see the Republican party destroyed and remade to actually have conservative principals.

Please work on it!

Very admirable and a correct path for republicans.
However I doubt that most of them will take your advice.

The answer is we are screwed as a country. The GOP nominated a real moderate with a history of working across party lines. He chose as VP a smart guy who was serious about the budget. They promised credibly to do something about the entltlement crisis in Washington and work in a bipartisan way to rein in gov't debt and spending. They ran an excellent professional campaign that highlighted all of this.
The people voted for free shit instead.
That means we are fucked, screwed, out of luck, and dead in the water as a country. The culture of entitlement has taken hold and will be hard if not impossible to break.

LOL. It was not 'liberals' that made the statements that so alienated women, minorities, and the young people of this nation. It was the radical wing of the GOP. A wing that has had far too much influence. And then there are the statements like that of Mitch McConnel, where he stated that defeating the President was far more important than the economic well being of the citizens of this nation.

Here in Oregon, we have had some exceptional Republican governors. Yet, for the last 20 years, the GOP here has ran people that were constantly treading on the brink of going to prison for felonious conduct. And the radical right wing religious anti-tax people have controlled the party. When the GOP nationally and in this state get back to the Eisenhower Republican, then they will once again have a chance at my vote, and that of many others. As the GOP stands right now, no way I can consider voting for any of them.

Conservatism is dead in the United States. It's only chance of survival anywhere is to formally divide the country. The best thing conservatives can do for themselves is identify a hospitable nation and take their industry there. Just like Lot ran from Sodom, don't look back.

After action review: Don't nominate the loser who lost in the primaries to the last loser, as have the last two GOP losers.

Romney was an excellent candidate. He presented a wonderful vision for America. At the end of the day, the TMZ electorate got their way. Corruption won out.

I am encouraged by the loss quite frankly!

Because this is the death throes of the liberal agenda.
In spite of Obama's JOB KILLING efforts the economy is growing!
In spite of Obama's ANTI-BUSINESS hatred of capitalism... it is growing!
IN spite of biased reporting by the MSM the truly ONLY reason Obama was re-elected was the UNINFORMED voter who depended on CBS/NBC/ABC biased reporting!
All others now seemed to understand their news sources were extremely favorable to Obama so the ONLY growth in Obama's bloc was UNINFORMED FOOLS!

SO with MSM losing advertising revenue, cutting back ABC/NBC/CBS all feeling these losses WE are getting more independent less biased sources.

The course of action is clear. Impeach Obama! Keep him diverted from implementing his socialist agenda even further!

FRANKLY I think he is a lazy SOB and hopefully will spend his last 4 years playing golf!

From a Liberal, Well said.
Yes, this election turned out the way I hoped it would but I want My old freind Republican Conservative back. The one where we could talk, agree, disagree, all while we were having a great time fishing together.

That's true it is a Pyrrrhic victory. But not without consequences. The nation has lost its soul and nothing will easily bring that back.

The answer is that people like you are screwed up, Rabid. The GOP nominated a Governor that was once a moderate, but who advocated extreme positions to win the nomination. So in the space of the primaries and campaign, we saw a flip, flop, flip on almost all issues. Ryan is a disciple of Ayn Rand. That says all that has to be said about the man. He should never be allowed within a country mile of the levers of power.

We will now move on as a nation, and as the economy improves, doomsayers like you will appear more and more ridiculous.

I don't buy that "slightly richer" part in the least....The Democrat Party is absolutely loaded down with bazillionaires like Jeff Immelt, Bill Gates, Hollywood celebutards, Wall Street banksters and the like.

To attract back the hordes of people the GOP has driven away over the last few decades, they need do nothing more than adopt into their message the the following four words: And we mean it.

After action review: Don't nominate the loser who lost in the primaries to the last loser, as have the last two GOP losers.

Republicans need to nominate better candidates

Romney was a good candidate. Gingrich, Santorum, Cain and Paul were not

Allowing the Tea Party to swamp your primaries and run candidates who are an embarassment to your party is not a winning strategy

LOL. Just as I predicted. Flap-yap about seccession, next, flap-yap about second amendment solutions. You brainless wingnuts are so predictable.
