Many major cities have had problems with muslim taxi drivers not taking service dogs, people coming from bars, people with bottles of alcohol in their groceries, women in skimpy dresses, people carrying a bible or rosary visible, people eating or smelling of pork or bacon. Some would not pick up women that did not have a male escort, just left then standing alone in the street at night, not evening calling for another taxi for them.
I can better understand an uber driver since it is his personal car, but he should have a sign or list reason for not picking up someone before agreeing to go and make that pickup. Uber drivers do have the right to stop and start when they wish, but if they find a reason to refuse, they should at least call for another driver.
The driver might have an allergy to animals, but that should be listed.

Taxis are licensed by the city and do not have the right to refuse. Uber drivers are self employed.

No excuse for beating an animal. At least call and wait for another vehicle for the pregnant women.

From what I've been told Muslim cab drivers routinely refuse to pick anyone up with a dog, or anyone who has been drinking alcohol.

If the person was busted for beating the dog, then I have no problem with how things panned out for them. To me, getting busted is what should have happened to them.
