Much said about Germany's switch to renewables

Germany has embarked on a sustained effort to switch to renewables. While this is over a year old, it outlines the direction of that effort.

That must be why they needed a Nordstream TWO pipeline from Russia to keep Germans from freezing in the wintertime when snow covers the solar panels huh?

Good idea from Biden? Approving THEIR pipelines and junking ours? Seems like the disparity in Covid compliance between Democrats edicts and the leaders IGNORING those edicts as they please.

Germany's generation is in the tank circling the drain. After ditching their nuclear for no good reason, they were still BUILDING COAL PLANTS up to 2020... At least they got that part right to keep the lights on.

By God -- that vid is handbook on how to wreck a countries energy suppliers and make it a beggar nation. Where's the GOOD part? LOL

5min40seconds into the vid -- They GOOF up the deployment of wind so badly by insisting on underground N-South connectors instead of above ground -- so that the NEW deployment of wind turbines fell to the "lowest level in 2 decades"..

You SURE you watched and understood the carnage in this video??? This is what expected when the country is 25% controlled by a Green Party with no understanding of engineering or technology..

Freezing to death is better than CO2 or nuclear........

Was Merkel afraid that a tidal wave was going to knock out the power to run the nuke plants?
Maybe they could just move their backup generators to a higher floor?

Germany has been building clean coal plants for years now. Only the climate crusaders think they built them as monuments to gaze at! :113:

Anyway.......its a moot point. No matter what Germany is doing, China building 2-3 coal plants/month for the next 9 years to 2030. So thats like a smoker saying, "Ive really but down on my smoking!!". Impressive.
But he's gone from 4 packs a day to 3 1/2 packs a day!:spinner:China gigantic coal efforts make any renewable efforts anywhere on the globe irrelevant. Anybody with half a brain understands that!

There have been other threads with not only Germany, but other European countries bragging about renewable energy.
Only to find out it is greatly exaggerated and costing a fortune.
We just don't have the technology yet. And not from a lack of trying. The problem is most likely due to the constant exaggerating and politics of each "new" discovery - "this is the one!!!"... and then investors lose their ass and governments waste $billions trying to save them.
I am all for renewable/solar energy. But unfortunately, it is mostly being done by either faculty lounge theorist, or unscrupulous characters milking money from grants given to them, all to eagerly, by politicians.

Folks in Germany were all amped up about renewable energy, especially wind, until about 5 years ago when the bills started rolling in!! :deal: Same thing happened here on Long Island with solar.......peoples heads exploded when they saw they were paying significantly more when their electric ball came. They'd been bamboozled.....the local TV station did a major special on it! Ex......posed!:bye1:

Merkel is an interesting character to make decisions like that. Has a PhD in quantum chemistry. Not technically illiterate. But growing up under Commie rule probably taught her how to survive in politics. And she does things like closing the Nuclear plants so as to defuse opposition from the Greens -- who now have 25% control of German govt.

MUCH LIKE -- what is happening now in the Dem party -- where they cannot defuse the "squad" nor Bernie because to DO SO -- would ruin their credibility on all the same issues they have in common like GWarming, Borders, Crime reform, election reform, etc.. It's just that those "liberal arts Marxist revolutionaries" always OUTBID THEM on those issues and the public schools here have greased the skids for the voters to PREFER action over posing to do stuff on the issues..

On the left, it's always just a bidding war as to who has the most outrageous, but ill-conceived SOLUTIONS to all these things.

That dumb pipeline that Biden justly put an end to was going to send oil to China, not the US. And Germany will continue to build their renewable infrastructure as Tesla expands some of their energy business into Europe.

Where'd you get that idea? Oil is fungible, but no one wants to DIRECT ship crude from shale oil. Needs extra refining. You'd be shipping DEAD WEIGHT to China. And I know you've looked at a map. That pipeline ends up at our refineries. Both on the Gulf and in the Ohio valley. (What's left of them)

So -- We WERE PETROLEUM INDEPENDENT. In fact totally ENERGY independent.. No more "blood for oil".. So if some of that refined product got shipped ELSEWHERE -- you think that's a crime of some kind?

He's a moron. Heard a stupid claim and repeats it endlessly.

Germany has failed, green energy has failed. Never has the world seen a more expensive experiment. Expensive being trillions of dollars. What would a bank, a corporation, a politician do for a trillion dollars? Failed or not, our politicians and corporations are way to greedy to quit spending this kind of money. After all, they get huge bonuses for spending billions. Are politicians get rich after they leave office and begin their multi-million dollar speaking tour.

Germany’s wind industry is now demolishing wind turbines faster than it can build them. During 2020, the Germans managed to add a paltry 200 new wind turbines to its fleet of over 30,000. Meanwhile, hundreds have already been demolished and – with hundreds more reaching the end of their economic life – the only growth area in Germany’s renewable energy sector will soon be demolishing them, recycling any metals worth keeping and burying their toxic fragments – including thousands of 10-12 tonne blades – in landfills overseas (probably somewhere in Africa).

In short, the seemingly endless growth in Germany’s wind power capacity has hit the wall. Much to the German wind industry’s horror.

Proving that, always and everywhere, the wind industry is built and runs on subsidies, now that they’re being wound back the glory days for Germany’s renewable energy outfits are well and truly over.
