MSNBC: Will the Trump-Biden election disaster finally convince us to scrap the Electoral College?

Step one, in the One Party move.

Stay tuned. Unintended consequences over the next 8-10 years are going to be steep. President Xi will still be around then, leading a more powerful and dominant Communist Nation.

As Americans once again look to the Electoral College to resolve another close presidential contest, it’s worth remembering that a half-century ago, the nation nearly did away with the system entirely.

Over the course of the 1960s, a movement to reform and, ultimately, get rid of the Electoral College steadily gained momentum.

Don't get rid of it, reform it.

Have States do EV's via one per house district, and then 2 EV's for the overall winner of the State.

Liable for massive gerrymandering... Sorry...

How about vote allocation as per percentage of your vote... (rounding up and down)

So what?

It would work both ways, and would reduce accusations of fraud because fucking with one big city wouldn't deliver an entire State.

No, Republicans will never agree to get rid of the EC. It's the only way for them to "win" short of making their policies less racist, less homophobic, less xenophobic. Which isn't likely to happen. We need to just neutralize it with laws that give all electors to the state's popular vote getter.
ahhhh another daily dose of left wing hate

Hope not. Though the EC doesn't benefit urban/suburban voters as much as it benefits the rural voters; it is far superior to using the popular vote for the direct election of the President.

I would prefer that we add in the logical stipulation that the president-elect win both the electoral college by a majority (270 currently) AND get a plurality of the popular vote.

It's also crazy having the number of popular votes available be an even number; it invites a tie. I'd like to see DC stripped of it's three votes making the total 535 or give them one more making it 539...anything to get rid of the even number.
