The 4th has a different effect on me because there is more then one form of freedom. The 4th to most is the freedom of a country, but mine is more personal.
Fifteen years ago today I entered surgery at about noon at St John's in Springfield for multiple cancer surgery. I had been diod with throat and lymph cancer.

I never saw 4th of July fireworks that year and wondered if I would ever see them again. I was brought out of a medically induced coma July 5th. I had lost two muscles in my neck, both false chords and one real chord, my tonsils and five branches of my lymphatic system and short term loss of the use of my left arm.

When I came to I had gained one trach tube, one feeding tube, an IV, four suction caths to my upper chest, a pair of cardiac leggings and a shit load of monitors. But I was alive. So today I am fifteen years cancer free and alive and posting. If I was to leave this world today and leave one comment for USMB members it would be..

When the day comes and you and your faith are the only things you have to face an issue you ARE fully armed.

Dear Fury, Happy your second birthday!

A lot of people on USMB (and around you, I'm sure!) are happy you are still with us. I'd like to wish you to enjoy many many more efficient years. Too bad there are not so many people like you in this world, but thanks God, there are... I feel very blessed to know somebody like you lives in this world and I'm sure I'm not alone.

And you are very, very right: when you are ready to leave this world, everything you can take with you there would be the treasures of your soul (if they exist), not the treasures you've been buying on the Earth... Fury, I have a feeling your soul has a lot of treasures.

My doctor told me I was the toughest SOB he ever met and I have spent my life since trying to live up to that. The battle for what you want and I want is greater then ourselves. Lucy Hamilton, that means you as well and YOU Pumpkin Row.

We are ALL in the fight together and the freedom for those that follow is the inheritance the few can give to the many. Its not what we get as people, its what we leave that adds the luster to our existence.

AMEN !!!!!
Well said my friend.
Have a safe and pleasant holiday. Enjoy the day, and as usual, continue to count your many Blessings. Be thankful in everything, and never forget from where all blessings flow.

Agreed...

I would say the fight for freedom is losing at the current time...and has been for some time, but then I am a pessimist about my country's future. Some might consider me a realist.

The centralization of political power into the hands of a small socialist elite marches on and the Fifth Column (the MSM) supports their propagandist efforts, to dupe millions of Americans to a life of serfdom.

Gipper, a pessimist is just an optimist with a lot of experience. So, yes, you sound like a realist. Unfortunately for your country and for the rest of the world. But I still believe: everything is up to God, sometimes He surprises us. 15 years ago He surprised Fury and his doctor and it was a very very nice surprise.

P.S. Fury, I wish all SOB-s in this world were like yourself.

God saved Fury. I suspect He is the only one who can save the USA from the centralized socialist hellhole the elites intend for the nation.
