Native America
More than 100 Native American tribes have reached out to FoxBarry Farms, a management firm building the nation's first marijuana facility on tribal land, over the past month to express interest in the cannabis industry.

FoxBarry CEO Barry Brautman, whose company also works with tribes to build and operate casinos, told The Huffington Post there has been a surge of interest since the Department of Justice's announcement late last year that tribes are free to grow and sell marijuana on their lands as long as they adhere to specific guidelines.

"I really underestimated," Brautman said. "So many tribes are wanting to do this right now."

"Tribes want what any government wants for its people, and that's financial independence," Brautman said. "They want to earn their own money, provide education, health care and housing. This new industry allows them to be more economically independent."

Sounds good to me! Hopefully the Fed won't regulate them to death.

Who would have more right to grow marijuana than Native Americans - especially on what's left of their native lands?

Are gambling casinos a part of Native American heritage? Are they going to claim that selling drugs to teenagers enhances their native culture?

It's sad to me that Native Americans are so dependent on vice. Their major industries are gambling, cigarettes, drugs (crank is the scourge of most reservations today), and even prostitution ("gentlemen's clubs" usually adjacent to the casino). High per capita violent crime on North American Indian reservations is a given, and it almost always involves monetary greed and drugs. Now pot? It'll be interesting to see how the federal government treats such an evolution. And how will it be taxed?

There is now too much pro-momentum for the marijuana industry to be crushed. It's here to stay.

Too much big money getting involved now....not to mention the tax revenue...

Why not, it is after all basically legal everywhere else. Great wampum material.

Yeah, but somehow it's sleazy when Native Americans want to do it. It just is...somehow...according to NaziCons.
No, it's sleazy when Native Americans claim that it's part of their culture or it's noble to be involved in gambling, prostitution and marijuana.

They need money! Are they breaking any laws?
