More evidence links lack of adult males to violent youth

In areas where adult men are scarce, young people are 36 percent more likely to commit assaults, a research team led by the University of Michigan School of Public Health has shown.

The study in the Journal of Community Psychology is the first to show a community-level association between the scarcity of adult men and adolescent violence, said Daniel Kruger, research assistant professor at the U-M School of Public Health.

"Father absence is a risk factor for a range of adverse outcomes at the individual level," he said, adding that behaviors from promiscuity to violence often are found in populations where fathers are absent. "In areas where men are scarce in proportion to women, family dynamics and relationships with women are considerably altered."

There's likely something to this. Was a documentary a while back about young bull elephants becomming violent, and I recall one of the reasons researchers believed it was because of, was a lack of adult males.

What about two men in the household in a committed relationship?

I imagine youth raised in those homes will have no violence issues.

Not likely there would be any kids, duh.

It's not likely there will be any fathers.

Boys learn how to relate to women by the way their fathers treat their mothers. They learn from their mothers what girls are like. Boys have a very special relationship with their mothers that they can extend to females. Two men can probably raise a gay son to enter a world of men and those designated as "bleeders" but not to be emotionally healthy and functional men.
