MLB Moves Bat Production Company From United States To China

18 Sep 2021
(CBS News:)- When Major League Baseball hosted its "Field of Dreams" game in Iowa in August, it was a celebration of small-town America. But less than 100 miles away, a small town is worrying that its local economy, that's centered around baseball, is getting shut out. Kris Van Cleave traveled to Caledonia, Minnesota, where a factory partially owned by MLB is closing up shop and shipping jobs overseas.

Comment:
So woke MLB is going to use Chinese slave labor for its equipment.
If the MLP Player’s union had a spine, they would tell MLB to keep the factory running or go on strike. Going onto playoffs, that would be devastating.

Major League Baseball isn't doing anything. They own less than 20% of the parent company that owns Miken, which makes the batting helmets for MLB. Miken doesn't make bats for MLB at all.

Helmet manufacturing; that thing that Miken does currently do for MLB, will, remain here in the States (Mississippi).

Seidler Equity Partners has a far bigger say in what happens than MLB, which owns less than 20% of Rawlings.

So woke MLB is going to use Chinese slave labor for its equipment.

No MLB equipment is going to be made in China...

It's not up to MLB to keep the factory running. MLB doesn't have the ability to make that call...

They aren't woke, I can't even begin to understand how you connected that to this at all.

They are moving for money, plain and simple. They can spend less money and avoid taxes in a lot of ways. Americans don't want to work and keep demanding more money which will mean they have to pay more money, this they have to raise their prices which means more people have to spend more money, and the cycle goes on. And I don't blame them, they are trying to do what's best for their company financially.

I thought St Trumpy fixed all that.

Guess not.

He did and was, then Biden reversed everything trump did out of spite. Even if it meant undoing something good for the country.

So you can't blame trump on this one.

Now they're part of the problem.

They could buy their equipment elsewhere.

They could buy their equipment elsewhere.

That's what they're doing. The helmets are going to be manufactured in Missouri.

Players usually choose their bats, the most popular right now being Mizuno (Japan) and Louisville Slugger (US).

As an aside, Louisville Slugger actually offers a cool tour at their factory. Can't take pictures, though...

And? They can still buy them off another manufacturer.

I don't know why they would. MLB apparently has a contract with Miken for the helmets. The story says nothing about whether or not that contract has been canceled...
