Mitch McConnell's Fox News Denouncement Sends MAGA Into Meltdown

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has joined some of his GOP colleagues in condemning Fox News host Tucker Carlson's reframing of the January 6 Capitol attack, sparking a MAGA meltdown on social media.
McConnell, who former President Donald Trump has repeatedly referred to as a "broken old crow," said on Tuesday that he thought the way Carlson presented newly aired surveillance footage taken from the Capitol on January 6 was a "mistake."Carlson on Monday described January 6 rioters as "sightseers" who were "peaceful" while airing a small portion of nonviolent moments on the day of the riot, taken from the more than 40,000 hours of footage given to him by GOP House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The airing of the footage prompted Trump to demand that those imprisoned for crimes related to the attempted insurrection be released, while many of his supporters celebrated Carlson's footage as a refutation of other footage that clearly shows violence from the rioters.
McConnell took a different stance when asked about the footage, backing a statement from U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger, who said the "outrageous" presentation had "conveniently cherry-picked from the calmer moments" of the riot to reach "offensive and misleading conclusions.""Clearly the chief of the Capitol Police, in my view, correctly described what most of us witnessed firsthand on January 6," McConnell told reporters while holding up a copy of Manger's statement."It was a mistake, in my view, for Fox News to depict this in a way that's completely at variance with what our chief law enforcement official here at the Capitol thinks," he continued.
Trump supporters and associates, including his son Donald Trump Jr., lashed out at McConnell a short time later."Don't believe anything that you see in the video," Trump Jr. said while tweeting a clip of McConnell's comments. "Believe the politicized report from the person who reported directly to Nancy Pelosi and what the main stream media have pretended is the truth for two years. With Republicans like Mitch who needs democrats
"McConnell said 'my concern is how it was depicted' on Carlson's highly rated show," tweeted Jenna Ellis, former lawyer of the ex-president. "Apparently he wasn't concerned about the J6 committee's depiction?!"

McConnell also received some praise for rejecting Carlson's narrative.
"Another rare agreement with McConnell," tweeted Chris Hahn, Democratic activist and podcaster who has appeared on Carlson's show. "Tucker is a conspiracy theorist and an apologist for seditionists."
Progressive podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen tweeted, "Republicans are now calling Mitch McConnell a Democrat for siding with Capitol Police against Tucker Carlson."
"In case you were wondering how far right they've gone."

McConnell was not the only Republican to denounce Carlson and the footage aired by Fox. His fellow GOP Senators Kevin Cramer, Thom Tillis, John Thune, Mitt Romney, Mike Rounds and Chuck Grassley were among those who also pushed back on Tuesday.

Cramer said Carlson's framing was "just a lie," according to CNN's Manu Raju, while Tillis reportedly called the narrative "bulls***."
McConnell is as much a fascist and enemy of democracy and the Constitution as anyone else on the right – but he knows that to continue the right’s war on democracy and the Constitution he must reject Trump and his lies, including lies about the 1/6 rightwing terrorist attack and conservatives’ efforts to whitewash that rightwing domestic terrorist attack.

McConnell will forever be appreciated by Conservatives for the way he managed Trump's judiciary appointments, from top to bottom. But otherwise he is a dick.

Methinks one must listen closely to what he says. I watched the "tape" in question and McConnell is - intentionally or not - conflating the key aspects of 1/6. Tucker is NOT saying that there was no violence on 1/6; what he is saying is that the 1/6 Committee, the Media, and the Swamp (of which McConnell is a denizen) cherry picked the available information to promote the false narrative that 1/6 was a violent attempt to overthrow the government.

What the tapes prove is that - ironically - the riots were, to coin a phrase, "mostly peaceful," even though there was more than a modicum of mayhem. Furthermore, there was no "insurrection." No attempt to overthrow the government. They "demanded" that Pence not certify the results, which would have done nothing more than delay the certification of the results, pending a real examination of the many irregularities. Up to that time, if one recalls, the courts were washing their hands of the whole matter, dismissing case after case on procedural grounds, the Media was denying the existence of any irregularities, and the Swamp was telling Republicans to shut up and accept the results.

As Tucker has repeated time and again, the tapes and related materials prove that the key players on the 1/6 Committee, along with the entire Democrat leadership were knowingly repeating falsehoods about 1/6, and MANY of the convicted defendants were unconstitutionally denied their rights, to wit, the prosecution withheld exculpatory evidence that they were required by law to disclose. They lied about the police deaths, the number of police injured, the conduct of the "Shaman," and many other particulars.

In short, this ain't over.

I personally don’t give a shit about what McConnell says.

And I don’t care much about Fox News, either.

What I really do dislike, however, is the obvious and insidious effort of the filthy scumbags Democraps (like Schumer) to silence any form of opposition to their false narratives.

It is so patently obvious what that prick Schumer is doing (although not on his own) that I am shocked that even our liberals aren’t disgusted by what’s really happening.

Bullshit.
It's over.
How does it feel to be completely trolled by a phony chump like Carlson?

Well, hey, look on the bright side ---- at least McConnell is talking now. He must be getting better.

Except about 40,000 hours of video hid from the public and the lawyers of the defendants.

If everyone has seen them then what is Chuckie pissing his pants for?

Yep, I think Lez Chunky, Adam Kissassinger, the J6 Committee and the whole Dem and RINO party have figured out that much.

They are wondering how many millions they will get in lawsuits and how much sooner they will be released now their fraudulent arrest now proven.
Who was fraudulently arrested?

Idiot, the only people in meltdown are Mitch, Chuckie, the whole Dem Party, the J6 Committee and YOU because once again, all of the real facts are once again made public what total criminal HACKS all of you are!
McTurtle is one of you.

He should be investigated for his China connections.

I suspect the vast majority of Trump supporters don’t give a flip about Mitch or his opinion of FOX. I do find it amusing though when the lefties in and out the media who regularly trash McConnell now praise him. Much like outrage of convenience is no outrage praise of convenience is no praise.

The Country is falling apart and lefties talk in cliches. "Maga into meltdown" rolls off the tongue but it's all bullshit designed to deflect from real issues.

McConnell is saving his legacy. a little .

Wow.........................

I can still remember when people on this board were singing the praises of McConnell and how great a news organization FOX was.

Now? FOX is worse than the lamestream media, and McConnell is now being denounced and called "the Turtle" by conservatives.

Republicans and conservatives are a fickle bunch.

Mc turtle did a lot of damage to our country, and very little good for his state. A little late to be calling him names now.
