The sprint to pass a state budget by June continues as Minnesota House Democrats are pushing for a $1.58 billion bill package to fund public safety needs in the state. But they’re already facing early resistance from Republican colleagues who have dubbed the bill package as “anti-law enforcement.”
House Democrats in a Thursday, April 8, news conference said their 235-page omnibus -- which includes both regular appropriations, as well as policy wish list items -- is lawmakers’ attempt to reckon with calls to reform the state’s criminal justice system in the wake of George Floyd’s death last May.
In addition to regular spending for police departments and the state prison system, the package also includes bills to rewrite the state’s controversial sexual assault statutes, establish an office to investigate cases of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples, expunge low-level criminal records, grant greater authority to citizen oversight councils over police departments and more.
State Rep. Carlos Mariani, D-St. Paul, who chairs the House’s Public Safety Committee, said Thursday that public safety and criminal justice reform is one of the “big issues on the top of minds of virtually every Minnesotan today.”

It looks like this will be a bit of a battle. I can't imagine why anyone would go there on vacation, live there, or open a business there and, specifically, in Minneapolis. The Democratic Party can't be trusted with anything to do with public safety.

What a pol says is on the top of everyones mind usually isnt, and in this case I can guarantee he's lying

The state is only a decent place to visit a couple of months out of the year, and the mosquitos ruin even that. Let them sink into Shit Hole status as deep as they want to. It will end up like Detroit or Toledo or half of Michigan.

If anyone actually reads it, they would likley find that it is only a payoff to their election riggers and little of the money actually goes to 'Public Safety', same as the hilariously named 'Infrastructure' bill Congress passed, whre less than 5% actually goes to 'infrastructure' spending, and the equally farcial 'Covid Relief' bill, all just payoffs to their front gangs.

The problem that I have with all of this is that this right here is a social contract. If the government is unwilling to protect the people then there is no longer a social contract.

If there's one thing that has been totally obvious in recent months across this country, it's that democrats don't give a flyin' fuck about public safety. To order their law enforcement people to stand back and watch the burning and looting and destruction of private and gov't go on night after night, is mind boggling. And in many if not most cases the citizens will vote the same people who are supposed to be responsible for public safety and law and order back into office. I guess you get the gov't you deserve.

They don't give a damn about it.

They cry about the injustice of it all and how it can't be helped and they aren't responsible, etc. and so on.
