"Why" is a better question. If humanity does not learn how to live sustainably on one planet we don't deserve any more. The only real obstacle to interstellar travel is time. The actual truth is available - there has NEVER been a verified account of having encountered Aliens - or their supposed means of transport aka UFO's.
Therefore the thought of "Aliens" roaming around in UFO's is PURE speculation.

That other kind of live-forms (maybe presently unimaginable to us) might be around is also just speculation - that these live-forms can even build something like e.g. a machine, or a robot is also pure speculation. Just as a God is also a pure speculation - based simply onto self-imposed beliefs or beliefs written up by people trying to provide an explanation - later misused by respective individuals or power groups to serve their own respective interests and agendas.

As long as we humans can't grasp or define infinity (or endlessness of the Universe) - we will never be able to understand even our own "human" existence. Darwin or no Darwin. Since it comes down to most likely an infinite calculation in regards to the chances of creation of what we define to be life with an own thought, originating from a cell.

We cannot accelerate anything large anywhere near the speed of light, which would still make Alpha 4+ years away.

Space is largely empty of sizable objects but that does not matter. Nothing physical can realistically approach even a sizable fraction of C. It has to do with fuel. You can only carry so much before it's mass alone makes further acceleration impossible.

Absolutely. I have believed for a long time that Uncle Sam has toys at least 50 years beyond what we are exposed to in the private commercial sector.
