The story didn't say they were arrested for water bottles. It said they were detained, and they happened to have cylinders, which sounds like water bottles to me.

Who calls water bottles 'cylinders'?

A right winger who wants to make something sound more ominous than it is. The article called them cylinders. There is no indication that the border patrol called them that.

There is also no indication that they were water bottles either.
It's not what they were carrying so much, as it's about them crossing the boarder to begin with.

Did they cross the border, or were they near the border?

Here in AZ when the boarder patrol goes after you, it's because you crossed the boarder illegally.

Either that, or they think they might have crossed the border. Just because they checked to see doesn't mean anything. If the five were found to be guilty of anything, there will be followup reporting. That information will be available.
