We handed Thorazine out like candy when I worked in a psych ward in the early 70s.

And while it certainly helped folks who were schizophrenic the negative side effects of those drugs was dramatic and sometimes acutely dangerous.

I'm inclined to think that the long term use of many of these psychotropic drugs is injurious to people's health, both mentally and physically.
