Memorial Day - take a few minutes

My wife was looking through some pictures and found this one she took at the Memorial Day ceremony back in 2017. The guy on the left is my brother in law. he served two terms of duty in Vietnam as an infantry mortar man. He passed away last year from a stroke and cancer. That was me on the right...

Think that know it all will respond?

The Admiral is correct.

No, he's wrong. Memorial Day is held to honor the military members that died while serving this country. If you agree with him, you're as big an idiot as he is.

That's what I posted fuckwad! It is not for veterans in general, but those who died defending our nation.

"The purpose of Memorial day is not veterans, dumbass! I am not dead yet and none of my family died in combat. If you were not an anti-American POS, you would know the difference. Veterans Day is November 11th."

The second sentence clarifies the first, so that is where you fucked up in your reading. The third sentence addresses the misunderstanding that Veteran's Day, not Memorial Day is set aside to honor veterans.

Hey Admiral Rockhead Fuckwit.................THIS is what you posted in post number 10...................

You specifically said that the purpose of Memorial Day isn't veterans. You also said that you weren't dead and none of your family died in combat. You were trying to say that is reserved for Veterans Day on November 11. Sorry, but you are wrong. Memorial Day is for remembering veterans that died serving this country.

DUMBASS!

And, even if you go back to post 10 and try to delete it, there are several of us who responded and said that you were wrong. All anyone has to do is hit the "click to expand" button to see your idiot post. And, I've also copied it for this post, so that anyone can see it.

Doesn't change the fact that Memorial Day is for remembering veterans who died serving this country. You specifically said the purpose of Memorial day is not veterans, when in reality it is.

DUMBASS!

No, op did a little more than that. OP effectively contended that they're dying to protect our freedom.

That's a load of horse pucky. Such intellectual dishonesty should be corrected in every instance.

You know whose freedom they're dying for? I'll tell you whose freedom they're dying for. The likes of Kellogg Brown & Root et al. That's whose.
Just shut yer trap and have a little tiny bit of respect for once. This is not about YOU and your POLITICS.

You are the one being disrespectful. He spoke the truth, and instead of assuming he has bad motives, you could have at least tried to understand why he said that, or asked him to start a new thread.

It probably never occurred to you that people who speak out against these dishonest wars DO respect the lives of those who died, as well as those who will die in the future. True respect goes hand in hand with truth, not pretense or willful ignorance.

I tried to convince my wife that as a Vet I deserved breakfast in bed today. She wasn't buying it.

She should have. There are lots of places in Amarillo that are giving out free stuff and discounted meals to veterans. One reason I like Memorial Day, because I can score free meals as a retired vet.

Exactly. Thank You!

More than two dozen US healthcare workers on the frontlines of the pandemic have died from the coronavirus.

American hospitals have lost dozens of medical workers to the coronavirus. Here are some of their stories.

Desmond Thomas Doss (February 7, 1919 – March 23, 2006)[1] was a United States Army corporal who served as a combat medic with an infantry company in World War II. He was twice awarded the Bronze Star Medal for actions in Guam and the Philippines. Doss further distinguished himself in the Battle of Okinawa by saving 75 men,[a] becoming the only conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor for his actions during the war.Desmond Doss - Wikipedia His life has been the subject of books, the documentary The Conscientious Objector, and the 2016 film Hacksaw Ridge.

You don’t need to carry a weapon to be a hero in a war,

We are fighting a war on our soil with covid, and the first responders, nurses, doctors, aides, are dying. Any of our essential workers that died from covid, and I consider them Heroes of a War.

And yet people are partying like crazy yesterday, and not wearing a mask, and are acting like it’s the beginning of summer (which it is) but we are in a War now, on our soil, yesterday one would hardly know it. (not all people, but many of them)

And many military vets also died of covid.

Yesterday I literally cried when I saw a documentary about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis in the Pacific and the rescue of the few survivors. Then my mind switched to the slaughter of American GIs on Iwo Jima.

Yes, it's a cliché, but those boys were, really, the Finest Generation.

The way many Democratic and Republican and Socialist politicians are acting today is a disgusting insult to the memory of those brave and patriotic boys.

We shouldn't forget those who suffered that terrible loss. Husbands, wives, children, parents, family, friends, and neighbors. You might not agree with where the fallen were or what they were doing, if so take it up with your elected reps. But please do not disrespect those who died and those they left behind.
